We bought this combination package of mix-and-match puzzles for our niece, who is just over a year old. As with most Melissa and Doug products, it is sturdy, brightly colored, and easy for young hands to manipulate. And what a reasonable price -- these puzzles are $10-15 EACH in our local bookstores.

We love the mix-and-match idea. She can learn first how to put the puzzle pieces into any opening. Then, she'll eventually find a new challenge with this same toy when she grasps the concept of matching the color and design. Essentially, two puzzles in one for each of these!

Gotta say, I was tempted to open it and play with it myself! ;-)

My son loves playing with these puzzles. It has helped him learn his ABCs and numbers. He likes carrying the letters around the house saying their names! He likes to count the objects under the numbers and say the objects under the letters. The fish puzzle is not pictured, so it was a surprise! I recommend these puzzles for any child interested in numbers and letters. I would recommend a younger age as well. My son is 22 months old and I wish we had gotten these for him sooner!

I bought this as a gift for my 10 month old granddaughter. The large wooden pieces will be durable and the large knobs will fit in her hands perfectly.

This is an extremely durable puzzle with pieces that fit well, but not too tightly, into their places - providing an excellent challenge for my one-year-old.

I love Melissa and Doug products. I bought this for my 16 month old and its not exactly her level yet. It was still a good investment!!! I would really recommend it for a 2 1/2/3 year old which is what it says anyway. My daughter does enjoy throwing the pieces around. HAHA!

I have a 7 year old and twin 4 year olds. I bought it for the 7 year old to work on geography over the summer. All three children love puzzles and love that this puzzle talks. They all use it and it will make learning the US states and capital much easier and more fun. Be careful if you leave it in the family room without the pieces because the lights from the room and TV activate the speaker and the puzzles talks to you all evening long. Keep the puzzle pieces in the puzzle or the puzzle in the closet.

I purchased this puzzle for my 3 year old grandson as a birthday present. He took all the pieces out and when he put the last piece in, it blue the siren and the fireman talked. Then he had to find if every piece did that. So he lifted up every piece one by one. It took him 15 min. to find out how the siren blew. He saw every piece had a sensor in it.The puzzle works just the way it supposed to. It is well worth the money. I wish I would have purchased it when he was 2 instead.

My son received this Knob Puzzle as a gift for his first birthday, and he loves it! The pieces are very easy for him to manage, and despite the toy's simplicity, he can't get enough of it. He's partial to the horse, and insists on taking it to his crib each night (it's removed promptly when he fades out!). The puzzle provides more entertainment than I expected, and the excellent quality is consistent with the rest of the Melissa & Doug toys in our household. Overall, a great gift for small toddlers!

My two year old was so excited about this puzzle when she first got it. After playing with it for two days she knew all of the shapes when they appeared in everyday encounters (like signs, tables, books, etc). However she did get bored with the puzzle after a week so I had to put it away. Instead of having it available for play every single day, I make it available once every two or three weeks to keep her excited about it. My 11 month old likes to chew on the pieces and it is still intact so once again M&D has created a wonderful/durable puzzle for little ones.
