The GTA series is one ive always loved on ps2 and spent so many hours playing since I first got my hands on the amazing GTA3 to the still amazing GTA:SA.
However, this latest installment is not as good for several reasons including the very weak and boring storyline which at several times had me yawning and the missions all felt repetitive and not so GTA like. It mainly consisted of: go there, kill this person, chase this person, kill this person, check this place out, kill some people. There was no fun missions like the old rc helicopter or burning down a cannabis farm or bike hopping along loads of buildings etc. The missions were very repetitive and boring.
This wasn't helped out by the very dull city which although ... Read More:

I have bought both games, and I have reviewed PES 2009 (look for dentistTubster). I cannot be bothered to review Fifa, but here is roughly what I think:
- There are about 3 different ways to score:
1) The through ball/lofted through ball followed by a tap of finesse shot if the keeper stays back, or a chip if he comes out.
2) The set piece option - corners, free kicks and penalties.
3) The classic PES goal - run to the byline, cut it back with the pass button and hammer it into the basically empty net whilst the keeper is still fishing about at the near post.
That is it. It is literally almost impossible to score outside the box, because you have to get the power perfect for it to go anywhere near on target, ... Read More:

I got this game with my PS3 40GB, and I thought it was astonishing. The graphics were really good, the cars were fast(after you unlocked them), the tracks were numerous, good looking, and fun. It was a big jump from my PS2 Pro Street. However; after a while, the cars started to look a bit plasticky, and when the cars crashed into a wall or another car, they didn't break, but stayed exactly the same. I thought this for thirty pounds was good, but I thought that the PS3 had more potential. I tried a few other racing games, such as Race Driver Grid, and they were awesome. The graphics looked better, and more realistic in Grid, and really crashed when I crashed. This game is now reduced to £18 pounds, but if you're looking for a really good car racing game ... Online play is the worst I've ever witnessed in my life. This is a game for sports, the olympics (summer games) fans and groups of friends sitting in the same room.

This could very well be the best video game ever made. Never before has a game shown so much character development and such a great job of storytelling - yes, it's linear, and yes it does use a lot of cut-scenes; and simply, that's why it's so darn good. The gameplay is solid but the cut-scenes make this title something far more than a game.
Hideo Kojima is the only one who truly gets it. He's the Spielberg of video-games.
I was blown away. You owe it to yourself to buy this game.

After the decable that was PES2008 on the next-gen consoles, have Konami managed to get their act together for PES2009 ?
The answer is yes ... and, er, no.
It looks better, it plays better; but of course these things are relative.
PES2009 has a new 'funkier' front-end, replacing the 'Playstation 2' style of all the previous games. Sadly, it now looks like it was created by somebody who's computer skills are limited to 'Right-click, cut. Right-click, paste' and is still no match for FIFA's polished presentation.
What else - oh yes, in an homage to 'FIFA' there is a now a selection of tracks that play in the background while you while away the time editing all the non-licensed clubs and players. Maybe it's my imagination, ... Read More:

Have to say this is a lot harder to play that some of the others, as timing the hit can be quite difficult. However saying that, it probably what makes this a little more realistic and less arcade than some of the other games around. The graphics are nice as well, as you get more tired, your player sweats and your accuracy etc. decreases. Very good soundtrack as well. Just could be improved in a couple of areas, would like to see the training area give to some points to improve your player and not just through tournaments and matches. For that Virtua Tennis seems a little more complete......

I'll be brief on this review. The controls are simple and easy to learn, the story is fantastic and especially good if you're a star wars fanatic like me, the levels are fun, the graphics are very good but not the best. The sound is great, like a lightsaber is in front of me. But its repetitive and seems a bit linear, but it does what it says on the cover you can unleash the forces, blow away your foes, hurl them like rag - dolls, shock them, stab them, stomp them, and crush them.
A fun game, but is now collecting dust on my shelf after a month of button bashing, the story can be done in a week if you savor it, or 1 day if youre a hardcore person. A good game if youre a fan or not.
