Sid Meier's Pirates! (PC DVD)

In the interests of Science I decided to see how long it would take me, on the highest difficulty setting to go from the starting ship, to one of the most powerful base ship - the type used by the famous pirates. 8:49 minutes. Well, that was easy, now just to upgrade it a bit and away I go. But I can't, because the nearest shipward which sells the upgrade I want is to the North-East, and the perpetual westerly winds make sailing in that direction a time consuming and mind numbing chore. Well at least I can pick up some more crew members at a more convenient dock...oh wait, no I can't, because at this difficulty level my crew get so frustrated if they spend more than a day without landing or taking another ship that half of them run away as ... Civilization IV: Colonization (PC)

I play the original Colonization on the Amiga years ago. I've also play all the Civilizations from 1 to 4 and loved every edition. So you would expect that I would have been right at home with this one. I bought it about three weeks ago though I haven't really had a great amount of time to play it till this week. Now I wish I had left it on the shelf rather than taken it down to play. How could Sid have messed this up so badly. Yes the graphics are as great as Civ4 but the gameplay has sank to a level that I thought impossible. Add to that there is a great lack of understanding of history and how the American War of Independence came about. This game is great and the space stage is amazing there is over 50,000 planets. So I don't know how people can say that they should have spent more time making the game. They spent 10 years making it!!!!!!!!

Medieval II: Total War - Gold Edition (PC DVD)

This compliation brings together Medieval total war 2 and the expansion 'Kingdoms'. It includes a thorough guide for each and if my experience is anything to go by then it loads and plays without flaws or fuss. This is very similar in looks and feel to Rome total war but this later incarnation is more sophisticated and complex.

Rome is fantastic, quite possibly the best pc game of this genre so far which means Medi 2 (this game) has its work cut out if it is going to impress. And impress it does. On a 1650*1080 screen the units look absolutely amazing with layers and layers of detail. When units come together to fight on the battle field the little choreographed sequences look realistic and are thoroughly involving.

The Settlers: Rise Of An Empire (PC DVD)

I love this game. The grahics are stunning and gameplay is smooth.
The only problem I have is that is seems to stop playing after a while on my computer. Not sure whether special updates or patches are needed.

Not only is this a great game (check out the reviews for it) it is also published by a company that respects its cash paying customers.

After reading the review, i decided i couldnt wait for UK release, so i bought online in the USA, downloaded it, then shortly after the DVD arrived in the post.

Its a very deep RTS, kinda like Homeworld 2 but more intense and more deep. If you like Homeworld 2 your gonna love this game.

On the subject of DRM... Stardock's policy is to sell its games without horrible SecureROM or other evil harmful malware/data mining software being included. Medieval II: Total War - Kingdoms Expansion Pack (PC DVD)

if you were not already blown away be medievel 2 total war you will have to check out the expansion pack KINGDOM

it is so good that each campaign feels like a whole different game... it is worthy to be total war material.
JUST WOW

it also has famous characters in the campaign like scotland had William Wallace ( braveheart-1995 )
and the kingdom of jeruselem has richard the lion heart

Simply great.

i highly think that people should get this.....NOW!!

Football Manager 2009 (PC)

I am a huge football manager franchise fan and thought I would treat myself today so popped into WHS - what a MISTAKE I made!!!

I have just read the other reviews and agree with all the 1 stars - it took me four hours to get it loaded (the phone activation is an absolute joke by the way) and to my horror the game was slow (on a brand new sony laptop) and everytime I typed in a players name the letters came up twice!!

The game will be going back tomorrow as I can't be bothered downloading all the patches needed just in the first month of release.

I agree with a previous poster - AMAZON SHOULD WITHDRAW THIS GAME FROM SALE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - the fact that a product has so many errors indicates that it is probably in contravention of the ... Read More:

This is rubbish. Utter and complete rubbish. I'll tell you why:

Firstly, it was difficult to install on my computer. The auto-install doesn't start - I had to launch it manually - and then it doesn't complete properly, leaving me with a `ghost' application in the taskbar and no icon on the desktop. So even getting the thing to run was a trial.

Secondly, the gameplay. What gameplay? This is no better than a version I had on a mobile phone! Where are the fantastic graphics and the strategic battles it talks about? The graphics are terrible: I kept losing my explorers in the woods because I couldn't see the tiny figures amongst the enormous trees.
