Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS2)

I used to love pro years ago and thought it was better than fifa by miles, i then bought fifa 06 and really got into the fifa games. Recently i bought Pro 08 just to see how it is a few years on an i got to say its very dissapointing!! At times pro can be the most infuriating game their is. For example.... once you play at normal level or higher you could have the fastest player on the game marked by the slowest, an the computers slowest will still beat you for pace!!! the referee sees fouls that are non- exsistant, all you have done is got the ball an he blows for a foul!! the players touch in the game is pathetic. still the same old master league players who are all so bad it makes playing the game on normal or higher very frustrating especially ... Football Manager 2009 (PC)

I am a huge football manager franchise fan and thought I would treat myself today so popped into WHS - what a MISTAKE I made!!!

I have just read the other reviews and agree with all the 1 stars - it took me four hours to get it loaded (the phone activation is an absolute joke by the way) and to my horror the game was slow (on a brand new sony laptop) and everytime I typed in a players name the letters came up twice!!

The game will be going back tomorrow as I can't be bothered downloading all the patches needed just in the first month of release.

I agree with a previous poster - AMAZON SHOULD WITHDRAW THIS GAME FROM SALE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE - the fact that a product has so many errors indicates that it is probably ... Read More:

Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 (PS3)

I have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer games since the first one came out for Playstation 2 some years ago and have been buying the updated games yearly up until Pro Evo 5. So when the new edition for the PS3 was released I couldn't wait as finally I was looking forward to playing it online most of all and was my main reason for buying it.

Firstly though to the single player game: My initial reaction is somewhat disappointed as I feel that the gameplay feels slowly and not as crisp and exciting as the PS2 versions. The are very additions as compared to FIFA 08 which has much more depth and challenges. But for the time being I can cope with these niggles as it was the online features I was mostly concerned about.

First off let me say ive always been a massive fan of the Pro Evolution series and I have owned every one ever right from the first on the Playstation called ISS Pro I still play Pro Evo 4 on the PS2 and Pro Evo 6 on my pc but as far as my Xbox 360 is concerned there has yet to be anything like a next generation game.
Pro evolution 08 on Xbox360 is dreadful for a start the gameplay is too fast. Gone are the great hard fought 1-0 wins now its likely to be a 5-5 draw in 10 minutes. It has become a pinball speed type arcade game with some players running like Olympic sprinters on steroids. The graphics are poor and the editor is next to useless. It simply isn't. Even though it's meant to be.

The crossing is so awful that none of the players even seem to know what the box is, they'd rather smash someone's face in when they're sitting innocently in the stand. The shooting is frequently off target. I find I'm actually more acurate shooting outside of the box than inside of it. It just seems, poor, comapred to it's PES counterpart. It appears harder to actually play...and that;s only when you can get it to play.

I have it in my collection. But It'll never let me play it. In fact, I've played one game in an hour and a half today. Officially the crashes are winning 4-1, because in that hour and a half I've had to turn the damned computer off FOUR times. Great for patient people, which I am not.

Championship Manager 08 (PC CD)

I have the demo and i thought it was quite good but then i got the fifa manager 08 demo and even without all its best features its a superioir game. Fifa m 08 has more tactical things to do and you can have more power over the club, download the demo of both games before you buy this

This is by far the best football game I have ever played. The gameplay is good because if you get a good team that work together well you can score loads of goals. The only bad things are that the keepers are very inconsintent and sometimes you make a firm but fare challenge and you get a yellow card for it.
Gameplay-very good
stadium atmosphere-good
game modes-pretty good
Overall it is a very good football game.

FIFA Manager 08 (PC DVD)

Having tried management games since the original Champs Manager, and the first LMA this is the best one yet. It is very addictive, it has lots of options to tailor to exactly how easy/difficult you want it to be, or how much you want to do. It runs fine on my Vista PC. Yes the graphics for the 3D match are not brilliant, but if you got this you got it for the management side, if you want it to look good in 3D get FIFA or PES.I thoroughly recommend this, it's really good.

I spend most of my time playing on manager made, so i will talk about this, Fifa had a problem two years ago, in that all you had to do was send a half decent scout out to the likes of Africa and Europe and he would come back with a young player with attributes in the high 70's or low 80's, and yes this problem is back.

why waste your hard earned cash (will come onto this in a moment) on players from other clubs when you can create a team of super players by simply sending out your scout - very unrealistic, half the fun of FIFA 07 was that it was really hit and miss when you brought in a scouted player, you really had to put in the time and effort in the hope the pitch time you gave them resulted in them developing into great players - no longer the case.....also what happened ... This is an excellent game. Slick, addictive, and has bundles of long term game play. Buy it! Buy it now!! (But don't pay nearly a thousand pounds as it's currently priced at.... Whoops!)
