Recently bought this. I used to have the '03 version and that was more fun because it had an 'arcade' mode which is where you raced against other cars on the track at the same time.

This one is for those who really really want to be alone. The only car you see is a 'ghost' car during the 'quick race' section.

There isn't that much car setup to do. On 'normal' this game is ridiculously easy in terms of winning championships etc.

Wouldn't recommend it. the TOCA '03 is far more fun because you race different types of vehicles and you actually race with other cars on the same track so you have the excitement (and frustration) of trying overtake etc. Definitely recommend TOCA 03 instead.

Well, the idea was good. But so many short cuts and poor choices have been made in the 'game's development that the product is next to unusable. Problems indluce-
* On slow machines, the game speed is locked to the framerate so the game slows down to a crawl.
* The game auto-selects and in some cases, auto-changes gears for you. Thinking about gear changes is really important to learner drivers.
* No pedal support.
* If you make even a slight mistake in a practice session, it aborts and sends you back to the begining - extremely annoying and unhelpful.
* you get a top down view of your car in a little window, so that you can 'cheat' any of the manouvers. Hardly a good thing to learn to rely on.

The game is amazing and you can literally drive for hours up mountains in the cities in exotic sports cars. You compete in races for money to buy new cars and houses etc.

Firstly here are my machine specs: AMD Athlon XP2400+, 896MB Ram, ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 256mb.

To get the game running OK on my machine - and by ok I mean 15-20 fps which is not great by any means but is playable (Apart from in cities where it drops at times to under 10 fps). I had to disable Details (Flying bits of paper and stuff which don't really add anything to the experience) and Traffic (which makes the game easier because the police aren't after you all the time!), AND set detail settings to LOW which just seems to change the draw distance - everything ... i have been playing this game for some time,then i purchased race 07,to be honest rfactor looks better(eg on the higher settings you can see the grain and blemishes which look realistic on the tyres),plays better and has a massive range of mods available to down load for free, f1-nascar-gt-irl-trucks-vw beatle fun cup-go carts and on and on,theirs just about every track available as well.
you can download a season mod creator,make your own seasons for each mod,points system etc.
its a racing sim that you can through options give a arcade feel to,great sense of balancing the power and braking as you over cook it into a corner and lose that place you fought so hard to claim lol.

There are a fair old mix of reviews of this one. Terrible handling and gameplay some say; well I expect they have made the same mistake I did when I first fired it up. Do not, under any circumstances, just put your foot down and expect to get past so much as the first bend.

Even with a high quality wheel and pedals, this game requires some tact and diplomacy. To succeed you need to drive SLOWER ... or at least slow enough to control your cornering in particular. Kind of like real driving actually.

Which isn't to say Grid is realistic, because it isn't. It's gameplay, with all of the nutty compromises that brings with it. But it does require an element of care, you need to brake hard into corners, and accelerate hard out of them.

this is the greatest racing simulation to date. the handling of the cars is realistic and the graphics are great. massive selection of cars will never leave you running out of cars to buy.

the races are varied and the tracks are designed very well an there are plenty of race events. with the sheer amount of race events comes the need for lots of persevierance, especially the 24 hour endurance events which take a minimum of 9 hours when using b-spec mode.

b-spec mode is a great mode to have in the game, especially if your driving skill is not up to spec or you just fancy a race on the sidelines to have a cup of tea and some biccies.

This game is excellent. I had great fun progressing through the levels and buying new cars etc. I never tried fine tuning the engines or anything, so can't comment on that.

The game looks supurb, it really showed off my graphics card (Nvidia 8800GTS) to its full potential and it was actually quite pleasant just driving some of the rallies to admire the scenery. It also ran fine on both XP and Vista, though Vista was a bit choppy at the higher settings.

There are lots of car types to use, and different terrains and race styles. One of my favourite styles pitted you against one other driver on the same track at the same time, but on different routes. Official Sony PlayStation 2 Memory Card (PS2)

Ok so I HAVE had my PS2 memory card for a while now, but it has now started to act up.
A few months ago it lost all my Guitar Hero 3 data, so i had to do it again!! (not a huge problem as i love the game!) But seemed to work afterwards, thinking it was just a glitch i carried on using it but now it has failed again on GH3 and other games aswell.
I will be getting a replacement Sony card as they do last well and are better than other cards for the PS2 but be warned they can fail. (thats not to say they will though) :)

Just arrived at the airport, go buy a car and a house to put it in with the cash in your pocket. Next, drive about Oahu searching for races. Earn more cash, buy more cars and buy biggers houses. And thats it.

You can drive around aimlessly or use the GPS to guide you. The races themselves are standard affair, time trials, one on one, 4 in a race etc. and they are easy to find and access. Graphics are good, not great but there is a distinct lack of atmosphere.

The problem with the game is the sandbox style itself. Its nice to drive around and visit Pearl Harbor and stuff but then you realise that you spend as much time driving around as you racing. RACE 07: The Official WWTC Game (PC DVD)

Race 07. If you like WTCC and your computer is nearly half a decade old, like mine, you need to go out to PC World immediately and buy a new PC. The graphics are phenomenal and 32 tracks, you will be glued to the screen for months. You need a graphics card that can support a lot of memory space on your PC for this to work.
