Powerplay DS Lite Deluxe Pink Accessory Pack (Nintendo DS)

If you've got a DS this is great, it has every accessory you could ever need for your pink DS. And it's really great value for everything you get.

The carry case is nice and robust plus has plenty of room for extra games and the emergency charger is a really nifty idea, great for travelling for those just in case moments.

Overall this is a really well thought out package and I'm delighted I bought one.

Dr Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? (Nintendo DS)

I've had this game a few weeks now and have improved a lot.

I have always been rubbish with numbers and this has helped immensely.
My reading hasn't really improved though :( Not that it's that bad...

I'm not sure if the training has rubbed off into the real world yet, but at least I can see improvements by doing the daily training.

It has a good range of daily training tests you can perform and the more days you train mean the more tests you can choose from. Also the better you get it adds a harder level to some of the tests.

I don't use the voice recognition tests anymore as for me it does not recognise when I say black most of the time.

Nintendogs Labrador Retriever & Friends (Nintendo DS)

This game is brilliant! When you first get your dog you have to play with it so that it gets settled in then you have to think of a name and say it into the mic a few times so that it gets to know its name. Then you have to call your dog over to you a few times. After that you are free to do whatever you want with your dog like going to competitions, taking it for walks, washing it, feeding and grooming it. You can also buy another dog if you want to.
I really enjoy this game! It was the first game I ever I had and I would advise you to get it!

After seeing my child struggle for over 40 minutes to get the nintendo machine to recognise the name she was calling (has to happen more than three times) and allow her to type it in, I felt compelled to warn other parents. It is a shame, its a good game which has been completely killed off by unnecessary voice recognition security. I hope someone from nintendo is listening, I am sure people have returned this game due to this design fault.

Lite Essentials Pink Accessory Pack (Nintendo DS)

Bought this together with the Nitendo DS Lite for my daughter. It is worth it just for the carrying case. Plus you get a clip case to store 3 game cards and you get an in-car charger. The earphones you can take them or leave them, as they are nothing special, but for the first 3 items it is excellent value. It is not called an "Essentials Accessory Pack" for no reason.

More Brain Training (Nintendo DS)

I bought this prior to a family holiday to France. Not having any previous experience of Brain Training, I decided to go for this version rather than the original after reading other reviews, and what a joy it was. I kept the game hidden until we boarded the ferry. When I got it out, I was expecting cries of 'oh no! Not brain training - why did you get that mum??' BUT instead all were delighted, and the whole family, young and old, played it every single day of our trip, and indeed fighted over who's turn it was. I highly recommend this game if you are planning a long journey, or just want to provide your family with some educational entainment that everyone can enjoy that doesnt involve the telly.

New Super Mario Bros. (Nintendo DS)

Absolutely brilliant, this game lasts for ages and doesn't get repetitive. The single player mini games are great to play on your own or over wi-fi, and the Mario vs Luigi wi-fi game is very fun....without a doubt i would say to anyone BUY IT!

This is harsh but I'll explain why. 95% of the time this is the harmless sort of game it appears to be, in tune with its PEGI rating of 3+. BUT in certain circumstances (mainly if your child keeps switching off the game without saving it properly first) a fierce-looking mole appears and starts abusing the player for doing so. Abusing? Well, it repeatedly used the word "punk" in what I can only describe as a two or three minute aggressive rant. Why do they think "punk" is an acceptable way to address young children? Other terms were used as well. This may be OK for older children but my 7-year old was literally shaking afterwards, and even my 9-year old was visibly upset. High School Musical: Makin' the Cut (Nintendo DS)

I am actually quite frustrated with this game. I do like high school musical and was delighted when the game came out. I thought great, my favouite film packed into a game. Oh boy how wrong could I get? You basically spend most of your time pressing circles on the bottom screen to the different songs but even if you press them wrong, nothing seems to happen to their voices!! How strange?? Then u unlock clothing for the different characters which is not even slightly amusing. I may purchase the other high school musical game which is called High school musical living the dream. I just hope it is better than this great dissapointment.

Big Brain Academy (Nintendo DS)

So many brain games out there to choose from but this one for my family is the best.

Always found Dr Kawashima's Brain Training to be a little dull and plain, that annoying little man in spectacles and only one result (your brain age) for all that work - the games are too simple and black and white.

Big Brain Academy is fun, lots of games at different levels earning medals and then the five areas totalled together to give a school like score - my 8 year old daughter has a C-, I have a C+ and the wife an A+.

This is bright and fun, addictive for all! Buy it!
