My little girl has been interested in these types of books from the age of 2 months (she also has a pets one) when she became fascinated by the pictures. She is now 4.5 months and still loves to look at the pictures (with a few sound effects from mum or dad!) or just grab the book and scrunch it up (it makes a crinkly noise) and put it in her mouth! It's very light so she can move it around easily. These kind of books aren't expensive and I reckon they're well worth the money.

I bought this book on the back of 'What To Expect When You Are Expecting' and having borrowed this one from the library first. Both books are excellent, however I pre-ordered the 2008 edition, having read the 2004.
Why not 5 stars? Another review comments on the anglicising of the US law and support references, which is certainly the case in the 2004 edition What to Expect the First Year (What to Expect) but the 2008 edition is the American edition What to Expect the First Year and all the references are to the US system, some of which are completely different to UK, eg in the US the hospital files for your baby's birth certificate, here you register baby yourself. (A fairly obvious difference which is made very clear in hospital ... Read More:

My wife and I had our first beautiful baby 5 months ago. By week 5 we were basically doing a "cry on demand" routine for raising our child. Feeding him when he needed to be fed and putting him to bed when we thought he needed to go to bed. At week 5 my wife had to start expressing milk and was in a tremendous amount of pain in the breast area. That together with our baby waking up through the night was making child raising a testing experience if I can use that term. I essentially at that moment took on the role of Mr Mum. We purchased this book a few months earlier on the advice of a friend and hadn't really opened it up. That night I spent about 4 hours reading the book. The next day we started putting our baby into routine following Gina's recommendations. ... Read More:

sorry to see that this CD has got a bad review as I think it is wonderful. My son can't go to sleep without it, it really helps him to relax and unwind. I think the fact that it isn't the original version is good, as the tracks are shorter and don't get too loud which is often the case with classical music. I really like listening to it too, I think it is well made!

We were given this light show as a gift. When our baby was newborn to be honest it didn't really help him go to sleep. From about 6 months though, it has really helped him settle and drift off to sleep. We use it most nights and the batteries seem to have held up well so far.
I noticed another reviewer mentioned the attachment to the cot - it isn't particularly sturdy being just a couple of velcro straps and older babies would love to bang it through the cot bars. We overcame this problem though by placing it on the floor next to the cot, well out of reach of little hands! It's a compact enough unit that you can do this too. Also, there are the disadvantages of no volume control and no option of light show only.

Swaddling in the early months is thought (by some) to assist babies to sleep. It suppresses the moro reflex (or the jerking effects of it) and gives security to the baby. The Grobag Cotton Swaddling Wrap meets these aims. The only problem I had with it was that it is quite 'short'. I don't think my baby is particularly 'tall' but he would regularly get his feet free of the wrap. Baby's feet are meant to be contained by the bottom of the wrap being folded over them - obviously the 'taller' baby is, the less fabric there is to fold over. Minor quibble probably but there other swaddling products out there which are bigger.

I've been using this monitor for 4 months now and am very happy with it.
It's easy to setup and use. The sound quality is good and it's loud enough to hear baby rolling over even when you have the TV on in the evening. Battery life is fine for me as the parent monitor can be carried round for about 8 hrs without needing to be re-charged (I only use it from 7pm until I go to bed so thats fine for me).
I have used the torch but only to check what time it is in the middle of the night when the baby wakes up crying ! Otherwise I am not sure I will ever use the extra features that the BT150 has over the BT100 but overall I'm very happy with it and would recommend BT baby monitors.

I bought this book for my son's first solid food and I wasn't dissapointed. Although you probably don't need a recipe to make an apple pure, once you're past the first stage, it's getting more interesting. I cooked my son many meals from that book and served them (not mashed) to his Daddy too - they both loved them! Gives you ideas how to combine flavours and you can get surprised.
Presentation is nice and although I owe some other cook books for children - this one is by far my favourite one.

We simply refer to this book as 'The Food Bible'. I have used it constantly since starting to wean my daughter. She is now over one and I'm still getting my money's worth out of it. Some of the recipes have become family favourites! Simple, practical recipes which are tasty, what more could you ask. I found I picked about 5 or 6 from each age range and kept cooking batches, adapting to suit what i had in the cupboard, and to my daughters changing tastes. Good practical advice and a great starting point for weaning and cooking for a family.
