I love Orchard Hill games and we have owned this one for a couple of years but we have found it is too difficult to gain much fun from it.
The games last too long and my children have always lost patience with it before the games end.
The main problem we find is it involves too many throws of the dice to get to each shop.
From an educational point of view it is potentially brilliant in the way
each child has to pay for each shop item with the correct coins but the added confusion of matching cards and taking the correct card makes it more hard work than fun. To be honest ny children have much more fun playing shops with a pretend till and counting out correct play money.

My little boy (2 years 9 months) absolutely adores this game. It's good on may levels - taking turns, memorising locations, improving vocabulary, etc., but most importantly it's good fun and we enjoy playing it as a family (which is fortunate, since our son requests it most days!!). The construction is sturdy enough to withstand the attentions of an excitable toddler!

I bought this game for my son who was very reluctant to do any maths with me.It is a fun way of learning, and he gained alot of confidence. I now use this game in my role as SEN teaching asssistant, you can group the cards into +, - and X and focus on that area. It can be used with other teaching aids to speed up the sums, and help gain confidence. A game for two can take 15 to 20 minutes.
Our son got this game for is 4th birthday and he has loved playing it ever since, with increasing level of counting/maths. No one maths game is going to interest a child from early counting to more advanced additon and subtraction. But the beauty of this game is that you can adapt the rules to the level of the children involved. We started using it for basic counting, and now one year later, it really helps with addition and subtraction. And I expect it will retain interest and educational value for some time to come.

My daughter, now 27, had this game as a small child. She played it constantly from the age of 3 up to about 6 years. It was an absolute favourite and kept her and her little friends amused for hours. It teaches counting in a fun way. I am thrilled to see it is still around and will certainly buy it for my two grandsons when they reach the age of three.
I bought this game for my grandchildren aged three years. It aids their counting skills and is bright enough to attract their attention and keep them amused. When the dog selected had no bones in his basket this upset one of my grandchildren until I explained the bones were so tasty the dog must have eaten them all. A good educational fun game. I have several Orchard games and puzzles and they are brilliant!
My 3 year old loves this; the arbitrary nature of who wins or loses depending on whether the spinner says it's raining or sunny is good fun too. My five year old finds it harder to accept a rainy outcome when she's nearly at the top of the spout - but it does teach following the rules which is an important skill. Glad we bought it, both children get very excited about playing it.
I've just created a 'Listmania' list of the 10 best games my 3 children have and this is definitely a must have purchase for age 3-7. It is excellent value for money and great fun.
This game is ideal for very young children as it is a very simple introduction to board games. It's much easier than similar board games (like the excellent washing line game, pop to the shops etc) but still has a huge fun factor. It is also a quick game so children don't lose attention. There are also no small pieces like dice or counters to struggle with.
You take a board each which has the outline of a glass, dessert glass, knife, fork and middle plate and you start of with one face down pile of cards. Each player choses a card in turn from the main ... Read More:
