Don't buy this card as an esata card. The rear external port is only an internal (L shaped) port and a hole in the rear plate, esata cables don't fit. Seems to work well with a WD external drive after buying an additional esata adapter plate (£5).

someone said that this soundblaster 5.1 live card does not work with VIA chipsets. I have this card, and I have a VIA chipset. I have no problems whatsoever.

it is a great card for the money, but for surround sound I would go for the Audigy/2. for standard speakers or 2.1, this card works great. I bought it to replace my older soundblaster card, and it instantly made the older card sound very average.

I "downgraded" to this from an NVidia 8800GT Super+, which was proving not too reliable in my three your old computer. (May or may not have been the fault of the card.)

While this card has a bit less performance, it has proved to be solidly stable and caused few problems. Now 9/10, rather than 5/10, of my games rarely, if ever, crash. I don't have a huge monitor so I usually leave AA and one or two other features at "medium" levels on a medium screen res, so have respectable FR with most games.

Problem solved.

The card is easy to install and does what it is supposed to but the software bundled with it is difficult to use and buggy. Vista Media Center will detect the card once the Hauppauge patch is installed but it cannot detect or play HD channels.

The Vista Media Center TV Pack may resolve the card recognition and HD compatibility issues but it is only officially available to OEMs at the moment.

In order to receive ITV HD, the Hauppauge support line advised me to use DVB Viewer which costs 15 Euro. Obviously this is the software that should have been bundled with the card in the first place.
