I was actually rather impressed when I bought these nearly a year ago for my laptop at uni, especially for the £25 I paid, and especially considering I'd been used to built-in laptop sound! However, now that they are coming up to the end of their warranty I've found the wiring is tired so the speakers go every so often, the sound is more crackly and tinny, and I'm just generally getting the impression they're not built to last at all.

Now I'm back from uni they're plugged into my high spec pc and high quality external soundcard...and they really struggle with it. It's like playing a PS3 on a 10 year old portable tv!

If you are in two minds as to which speaker system to purchase between the IM7 and the IM9, I would suggest considering only one thing. That's portability The IM7 is the better speaker solution and the bass is outstanding. The IM7 would certainly have the edge over the IM9 and is rated higher than the BOSE system. That said the IM7 would be less portable for business trips etc. The IM7 is certainly a more durable unit and sound again is crisp and well balanced and would certainly fill any mid sized room. I would advise as a previous reviewer advised adjusting your equalizer settings to a more treble balanced sound. Only buy this if you want something really small & convenient & can put up with tinny sound and the vibrating metal back.
I bought this speaker with my first ever ipod as a package, & I loved the look of it as it came out of the packaging, but I have been bitterly disappointed ever since! It certainly does nothing for the quality of the i pod and I get better sound repro from my cheap Currys speakers which were a fifth of the price.

X-MI X-Minimax Speakers + Mains Charger

Thes funky little speakers are great. Plenty of charge time, easy to carry around and come with a carry case. They charge via USB (not from mains but direct from PC (USB to USB)). But do not get carried away, they are tiny speakers and not any good for outdoor use. Indoor they will fill a with good sound and attract attention that all that sound is coming from something small. When I used outdoors on holiday however the surrounding sounds from the pool and noisy Northerners only allowed the two nearest sunbeds to hear them.

These mini speakers are great! They can be used in different configurations: V-shaped, vertical, opened horizontally...etc. They sound good and look good. Well worth having in my opinion.
