For under a tenner these budget speakers are great. My old Dell ones killed themselves and also had a subwoofer with wires everywhere just complicating things.

These are cheap, easy to use and produce a decent sound quality. Dont expect them to fill the room - they're great for small office use around your desk. Just plug in and play. No volume controls on actual speakers but windows volume control does a good enough job.

Good buy for me

Bose Sounddock White Digital Music System

The SoundDock will play the audio from the newest iPods (Nano 4th Generation, iPod Touch 2, iPhone 3G, and Classic 2nd Generation) with no problems at all. Unfortunately due to Apple redesigning the pin connection on their newer iPods the Classis SoundDock will not charge. The SoundDock Portable will both play and charge with no problems, but again the original SoundDock will not charge the newest iPods.
Unfortunately as this is a fundamental design change by Apple not Bose; there is no way to modify the Original SoundDock to enable it to charge.

These speakers look fantastic with my Apple Macbook. The sound they produce is fantastic too. Can't fault them in that department. They are loud enough for me when watching dvd's. However if you want to be deafened whilst watching a dvd then I suggest you look at other speakers.

The only complaint I have is the fact you can't just plug them into your computer and they will work. You have to plug them into a plug socket aswell as your computer for them to work. Also the wires are not particularly long between the speakers so you can't exactly put one on one side of your room and the other on the other side because they won't reach!

Maybe I expect too much for £25 or so from a big player like Philips. These are such a disappointment I cannot possibly recommend them, at best they're a triumph of style over function, big blue LED on the front, hey why why would anyone want sound quality? It says on the box 'Bass Boost Technology' for deep rich Bass - you have got to be joking. If that's boosted, I would hate to imagine what they'd be like without the 'deeper richer bass' - than what is the question?

Pass on this pile of junk would be my advice.
