i bought this soundcard for the simple reason that it had 5.1 audio and a digital coaxial output. I installed the card with no problems and booted up without a hitch.

However

Upon installing the drivers and configuring the sound outputs i discovered that it DOES NOT output Dolby Digital or DTS through the coaxial out which is the very reason I bought the card. Nowhere on the box does it state this and to actually get it working you have to buy a serparate module which is harder to find than you think. Also the volume control and sound quality leave a lot to be desired.

For the price it isnt too bad but I'd think again if you're an audiophile or have a decent set of 5.1 speakers

Decided to get a sound card with a digital output after years of crackling from the motherboard soundcard, decided on this 7.1 surround sound, spdif output & windows xp compatible - soundblaster has been round for years thought perfect.
Arrived a couple of days later installed it within a couple of minutes booted up, windows detected it, but then the headache started. Even though on the side of the box it clearly states xp sp2 (or greater) - i have sp3 installed but the cd doesn't actually provide xp drivers - Great! visited the website & tried the latest drivers, turned out to be a waste of time. After plugging it into my laptop and installing the Virtual DJ (Console Edition) that comes with it, all seemed to work as expected. I am already an owner of Virtual DJ 4, and wanted to use it with that. Unfortunately, it seems to work a lot less effectively with version 4 than with the one that comes with the product. I had a few problems with sound leaking out of my speakers when it shouldn't have been there at all. I managed to sort out a lot of the problems by downloading the 2006 drivers and removing the 2007 ones.

Also, a few of the buttons on the console are rather insensitive, or sometimes too sensitive, resulting in unpredictable behaviour.

The jog wheels are also located far too close to the crossfader, resulting ... Read More:
