I have an Evolution midi keyboard and wanted to use it with Garageband. Bought this interface, downloaded the latest drivers and it was as simple as that. Tinkling away in Garageband. Worked first time and never been a problem with it. Good length cables too! and the LED's show you its powered and working. Usually lots of used ones available , so grab a bargain.

I have tried quite a few FM transmitters. Some did not work at all, some were really poor quality or suffered from interfearance.
I thoguht I'd give this a go and was amazed. It worked perfectly with my Nokia N82, first time. The sound quality is excellent and no interference.
The preset channels work well and it is easy to change between them (although I have not had to). Good build quality and comes with the cable to connect to your audio device.

This is an absolutely wonderful bit of kit. I haven't had any problems with it since I got it 4 years ago, and I've been recommending it to plenty of friends, who have also all told me how happy they are with it.
You will find that you must install the official supplied driver for the soundcard when using it in Windows. It will work without, but it would appear the generic windows driver limits the USB bandwidth, meaning reduced quality or number of channels. For instance, you may not be able to record at the same time as playing back. This might explain some of the problems mentioned in other reviews... You also don't get as much control. (You only get a couple of volume sliders, instead of the whole set.)
A fine audio card, now suitable for those on a budget. Let down only by poor website support from Creative. Strange, the website is fast and zippy if you're browsing for something you might buy, but sluggish as treacle if you're looking for support.
Note: A good sound card needs reasonable speakers, anything like the Logitech LS21 or better will be fine.

I bought the 2.1 version (for about £3 all in!) which no longer seems to be on sale. The sound quality through my 2.1 external speakers is at least as good as I got through my Creative system (Over £40). The speakers are externally powered, apparently these things heat up and melt if you're using unpowered speakers through it. True plug and play, cheap, good sound, weighs about 100g, and its tiny. What more do you want from a sound card?

I've had two of these devices, & they are simply not very good. I (tried to) use it for home recording on Garageband with a Mac (electric guitar or mic'ed instruments). The first iMic was erratic - sometimes it worked, sometimes I got one or several of the following problems: hideous buzzing or bleeping, latency of up to half a second or more, it sometimes even crashed my machine (& Macs rarely crash or have problems with peripherals). Eventually it fell to pieces (no, I didn't stomp on it). I thought it could be that I had just bought a dud, so I bought another - same problems. To be fair, when it works, it works fine, but who wants to spend time troubleshooting when you could be playing?
Spend a bit more money & buy one of the ... Read More:

Windows XP recognised and installed it right away. The machine noise on the headphone socket was shocking. The line out socket didn't seem to be producing any signal. I think this might be because it automaticly mutes the line out when headphones are plugged in. I don't know if it's because there's something wrong with my USB ports or the actual soundcard that's connected to them, but I can't seem to get rid of this machine noise. This item does not solve the problem.
