I bought this printer for it's compatability with Linux, and while initially I had troubles using it under Fedora Core 6 (x86_64), I found a cure to get round it at https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=214189 . I tried it with a few other flavours of Linux including Suse 10.1 (x86_64), Ubuntu, and Knoppix and it worked straight away. Simply download the latest version of the driver from the Samsung website, and follow the instructions. The scanner also works fine and the copier does not even require a computer.
The print quality is fantastic for my purpouses (student) and it's speed is very good for the price. It comes with a starter toner cartridge but no USB lead.

Very quick delivery AND cheaper than Ebay!
Even if I only use it the once, it would have saved me money having to take time out and find a garage, plus I've already called the AA twice this month for the same fault, which, fingers crossed, Ive sorted.

Very easy to use (once youve got it out of the package)
Very quick delivery AND cheaper than Ebay!
Even if I only use it the once, it would have saved me money having to take time out and find a garage, plus I've already called the AA twice this month for the same fault, which, fingers crossed, Ive sorted.

I use a PC daily but there is no way that I would say I understand what goes on inside. So I can recommend this scanner as something that is very easy to set up and then use. All you have to do is place the item that you want to scan into the hopper, make sure it is face down, press a button and then most of the rest is handled by the software. Altering the image quality (and thus the amount of space each scan will use) is also straightforward and it is also easy to scan into a word document that will allow you to edit the text (something that I never managed to master with previous scanners).
