I have a large number of slides dating from the early 70s. I bought this scanner to convert them to digital, to store and view them on a computer. The same scanner is also sold under other names: Luminex and Zennox.
The operation is indeed quick and simple but the quality of the scanned pictures leaves a lot to be desired. Despite their age my slides are in good condition. When seen through a slide viewer the colours are as bright and true as ever and the focus is sharp. However, the scanned images all appear fuzzy and have lost their depth of colour. In particular the reds have all but disappeared and everything has a blueish tinge. OK, I can use the image editing software to increase the red, but this of course affects the whole shot. ... Planon Docupen RC 800 Scanner

Given the two widely differing reviews, I decided to risk it.

There is a big need for a product that is a small portable scanner -but the Docupen isn't it and it is hard to believe something that performs so poorly can be marketed for as long as it has.

You just cannot get the scanner to move slow enough to scan a whole page. It will start scanning a few inches down from the top and decide to stop before it reaches the bottom no matter how consistently and smoothly you move it.

There is no point using the offer to buy this with a Gb mini-SD since the according to the documentation and my own experience the device won't work with cards of large capacity.

This is good value printer. Yes, it is a big printer but you expect that as its a scanner and copier too. The installment software is very good and clear so you are up and running in no time at all. The prints are produced quickly and are very crisp on regular paper (i have not tried to do photoprint paper versions yet.) but i have one minor gripe so far on the print quality: the definition within dark or shadowed areas is not good. The picture on the monitor shows a good range of colours and visible shapes within the shadows but when you print, the pictures have just dark shadows and all the subtlety in the photo image is lost. HP - G4050 ScanJet Scanner

Having spent some time doing research on different makes and models, I purchased a G4050 based on it's specs. Unfortunately, my excitement was short lived as the first one wouldn't even switch on. So much for HP's quality control!! The replacement turns out to be very good for scanning photos. The dust and scratch removal is quite impressive. However, this scanner is very frustrating when it comes to negatives and slides. It doesn't seem able to crop them at all well and one has to adjust the scanned area of each slide manually. I know that this isn't a dedicated film/slide scanner but I expected better reliability on this front. HP provide software for both XP and Vista but one has to open the installation guide before reading that some functions are not ... Read More:

I ordered 2 officejet pro K5400dn for work. After setting up the first one, and testing it, even on the first day, it kept chewing up the paper as the print carriage was catching it when using double sided printing (duplexing), so sent it back and got a replacement.

The second one seemed to work fine except for the odd chewing of paper when double sided printing but then after 3 weeks, did it everytime - so sent this one back also.

The first replacement worked fine for the most part for about 4 weeks and then starting chewing again so sent it back with the second replacement which I didn't bother taking out of the box.

This is why I would not recommend this printer at all.
