I bought this printer after some research as I am trying to get good photo results, but keep costs down. I've always been a fan of Epson photo printers. My R300 prints are excellent and the printer has lots of setting options. However, the ink costs and wastage are an issue. My initial prints from the ESP5 were very good, with minimal tweaking required. However, I've been messing with the colourspace settings to use Adobe RGB, and the printer is now blasting out loads of ink. Once I sort out this problem the printer actually looks promising. It also uses pigment ink, which is normally only found on printers costing far more.

I also bought this scanner after looking at many other reviews. It's a very good -sturdy, compact & with a decent case and leads. I'll use it to scan & collate a collection of thousands of 35m slides - yes, time consuming. I've tested it with a few good ones (Ektachrome 25 using tripod, etc)and found some useful info - the quick scan software gives slightly dull results and is really just for snapshots but OK and could be used with any selectable resolution and other software to enhance them. The Silverfast software loaded fine on my modern, but basic, laptop & Windows XP. It is overcomplicated but has an auto-enhance button which works very well. It locked up once when I overdid it for the PC's memory. Some scan times including ... Read More:

That's their company slogan. I'd love to live my digital life, but Mustek don't want me to... or countless others who were foolish enough to buy scanners a few years ago. It's been over 2 years and Mustek haven't produced a single Vista driver for any of their scanner models that were in existence prior to that.
Basically, thanks to their brilliant engineering, my scanner is in perfect working order, however it is totally useless....
I urge people to reconsider buying a Mustek ScanExpress A3 USB Pro Scanner, on the grounds that with the next Windows release (or even the next Service Pack), their scanner could be as useful as mine!
Let's face it, their scanners are not renowned for their fabulous quality anyway, they are ... Read More:

I bought one of these (from another supplier) principally for scanning slides, which it claims to be able to do to a high resolution. However, default settings produced slides with a soft, out of focus look, very poor colour balance and appalling resolution. Adjuting the settings to increase the resolution (even to a still fairly low 2400dpi compared to a stated maximum of 9600dpi) produced out of memory errors on a computer with 2GB RAM. The whole thing is painfully slow and the software crashed.
Document scanning might be fine - I didn't try it so this review only pertains to its capabilities scanning slides, which was what I bought it for.
Fortunately I have been able to get a refund.
I just bought this printer and have been using it for a few days so I thought I'd write a review of my experiences thus far. I had read a few reviews before purchasing it and was somewhat confused as it had got mixed ones.
Setting up was very easy. By this, I mean I could send a fax within seconds of turning it on, connected it to the home network which only involved putting in the network key etc. The only thing that took me more than 5 minutes to do was to set up the network folders. The instructions included were rubbish really. I had to go onto the hp website to get the full intructions but once I did, i had no issues accessing folders set up on my pc from the printer and sending stuff to them. ... Read More:

I have had this Printer for over a year and for some jobs it is an absolute nightmare!!!
When printing from my Serif Publisher, it is slow, can't handle high volumes, ties up my computer and slows everything else down, constantly goes awry if printing more than 10 copies!!!
It is also causing problems with Outlook and Word - apparently HP are supposed to be doing something about this! Still waiting!!!
I do not recommend this box even though it does well as a copier and on single items. I will never buy HP again!!!
