Cheap printer. Bulky but for occasional use, this printer can handle the job. Printer speedy was quite fast. So far so good but I've only had it for a month. Scanning software that it comes with is easy to use.

I needed a printer to replace a Xerox Phaser 6110 Colour Laser printer and also a scanner to scan old photos. After much deliberation between this and the Kodak, I opted for this machine and I am glad I did.
The machine was well packed and all the information needed to get you started in all there. The ink comes in 5 different tanks (cyan, magenta, yellow, black and pigment black). This is very handy because if 1 colour goes, just replace that ink. An old HP machine (and the Kodak I was looking at) had a tri-colour cartridge, so if only 1 colour went, you had to replace all. This is a waste of money and bad for the environment.
I have a Mac, and this printer came with the software to operate all the components via Mac ... Read More:

I was a bit dubious about purchasing this after reading mixed reviews, especially about setting up the printer as I am not the most technical person. I neednt have worried. It was really easy to set up, the only draw back was it didnt have a USB lead included, but I had a spare so this wasnt a problem. The quality of the picture printing is excellant and it is very easy to use. Very user friendly. I have no hesitation in recommending this.

This machine is a piece of junk - the worst printer I've ever had the misfortune of buying. Constantly reinstalls the driver, freezes, seems to print only when it feels like. The customer "service" is a joke.

Just to let everyone know that as i write this comet are selling this for £84.99 online.
Just got it home and with the help of an 'idiot sheet' installed with ease. Its a massive piece of kit about 18" square and 10" tall but looks a quality build and i think is a real bargain.
Happy shopping!!

Bought this printer a few months ago, light home user. Scanning works well, resolution fine. Noisier than other printers when paper spools through, you get used to it. For purposes of comparison, it's about half the volume of a standard vacuum cleaner.
The main criticism I have is that when any cartridge runs out the printer refuses to print anything until it is replaced, and there is no way round this.
So if you have no replacements to hand then it won't let you print a single page in black when the black cartridge is still full. This is infuriating. I took this up with Epson customer services and was told the following:
Epson - You need ink in all of the cartridges for the printer to function or it will cause damage ... Read More:

I bought this printer as a replacement for the Epson R200 which was a fantastic photo printer for 4 years (until the print head started playing up).
Having read loads of reviews singing the praises of the RX585, particularly for its photo printing quality, I opted for this model. What a disappointment!
The photos I printed intially on glossy inkjet photo paper were very grainy in appearance and colours (especially black) were poorly matched to the actual colours, with the black printing as red.
However, once I used Epson's own premimum glossy photo paper prints are perfect and would give photo labs a run for their money.
Overall the printer is very good and software fairly easy to use, but photo quality is only good ... Read More:

i have never written a review before but i couldnt possibly believe how rubbish this was!! at first when bought this printer brand new it worked for a few days fine and i was quite happy with it... 2 months later and its in the bin! problems after problems, ive had enough of hearing the words... "problem comunicating with the printer"! i tryed for hours every time it wouldnt work, (which was every week) to get technical help and re-installing the printer and now ive finally had enough. its in the bin and im looking for a new one, i won't be buying lexmark again! and my advice to you... don't waste your time and money on this because it will be in the bin in a week or two!

Connecting the printer directly to a single machine is easy; albeit a long process that leaves your machine overburdened with applications and icons (as do printers from most manufacturers these days!).
However, if you try to connect it directly AND to a wireless network (direct wired USB connection for a desktop plus wireless for your laptop via a wireless hub) then you can expect hours of frustration.
So, BEWARE, if you are connecting this to anything other than the most trivial of networks, as it is a non-trivial process. For us the technique seemed to be to ignore that you are connecting to the network and install it as a USB connected device (for which you'll need to bring your machine to the device and connect it with a USB lead). Then ... Read More:

I bought this printer in US to realize the UK Inks would fit, but would not work. After "paying" for new 3180 in UK, it begin having problems only one month after the purchase. By them I had no warranty anymore!
From paper jammed to cartridge malfunctions, it had it all. Avoid it.
