I've been considering getting a satnav for a while and probably like most people have been confused by the array of devices available and confused further by the various reviews given - some good, some bad. With a limited budget in mind and having read largely very good reviews I took the plunge with the Nuvi 250. Any doubts I had have completely gone - it's brilliant! It really is that easy and that good. Ok, so it doesn't have loads of features (you'll get those on more expensive machines) but if you simply want a satnav to tell you how to get to a destination that you've not been to before then it's perfect. I like my TomTom - it's a neatly-designed unit, finds a signal quickly, the maps and display are very clear and maps can be corrected and updated. The directions are precise with clear indications of which lane to be in at tricky junctions and, very useful for me, it has a speed warning which indicates if I am exceeding the speed limit for the road I'm on.

However, I've possibly been unlucky with mine because my first unit would switch itself on at random when not in use and when in use would freeze at the start-up screen although I could operate it using my PC (not that this is any help because I don't need a sat-nav when sitting in my office!). I've been using my Forerunner 305 for over 2 weeks now and I am very, very happy with it. Although I know it is sad, but this little device was one of my main motivations to get back into long distance running after a 5 year break.

Since Garmin has updated its GPS watch range choosing the latest model (Forerunner 405) would have been obvious, but I am glad I followed the advice of some reviews on here and elsewhere to go for the older and bigger 305 instead.

This Tom Tom One V3 Europe Sat Nav is absolutely fantastic. Very easy to use. Clear instructions on how to set up and link to PC for updates. Bought this two weeks before going to France and it was so helpful - even my husband agreed!! I would highly recommend this.

This is my first sat nav and so far I have been impressed at how easy it is to use and overall with its accuracy,however on a recent journey it did on two occasions give slightly misleading turn directions, as well as not detecting two safety camera locations despite having installed camera updates via Garmin,but then what sat nav is perfect?
The re-routing should you miss your turn is very good and for a low cost sat nav it seems to do everything very well,but it's a shame Garmin did not include a £2 usb data cable and I was also unable to register the product online with Garmin and therefore had to contact customer services to register.
So if you are looking for a low cost sat nav the Nuvi 200w does the job very well.

I'm used to having a unit built-in to the car, but I wanted a SatNav for European & UK touring - contenders were Garmin Nuvi 760T, and its TomTom and viaMichelin equivalents. ViaMichelin went out of the SatNav business, so it was the (cheaper)Garmin. Once out of its box and charged, it needs to be connected to the internet and registered before you can do any updates or download speed camera data. It wouldn't talk to the Garmin website (talks to the PC ok), so on to tech support.... "Sometimes the registration software is flaky. I'll do it manually for you" Hmmm. Get an email telling me that its registered. Website says its not. Several times, over a couple of days. It's gone back for a refund.

I got this as a power charger solution mainly for my Creative Zen Vision M 30gb. Like a lot of things, finding accessories for the creatives is difficult since the market is swamped with ipods and everything seems to be geared towards these.

The powermonkey comes with an adapter for the zen, but it doesnt work due to not enough pins being present so this leads me to believe that adapter is to charge an ipod.

The accessories do include one which fits the sync adapter of the creative zen vision M (the white thing you use to charge it from mains) so it does work - so for those with the same mp3 player as me - this will work for it, you just need to carry the adapter around as the flat adapter doesnt have enough pins.

I was looking for an easy to use and accurate sat nav device and this TomTom fulfils the criteria. User interfaces are very easy to use and the lag between where the TomTom thinks you are and reality is minimal. Probably don't use all the flashy features but basic stuff like setting favourite addresses, speed cameras and changing the speaking voice are great. Nice big screen as well which made me choose over the more budget models.

Items that stop a score 5 are 1) the battery is rubbish, barely an hour or two and as a result now never use without the car charger plugged in in case battery dies whilst driving at a key turning, and 2) can take a little while to find the signal when you first fire up (but not as bad as some friend's Sony sat navs though that take ages!)

Having read the reviews and seen the benefits of my friend's TomTom in France last year, I went for the Garmin, having read the reviews. Generally, I am very happy with the Garmin but, despite the settings being ok, it kept directing me on C roads between towns in France, when D roads are more suitable; for those unsure of C roads, they are basically a single lane country track, and there are quite a few tractors in France! Despite this, I am happy with the Garmin, although the 2008 European maps are not as up to date as my 2008 AA France road atlas.

I have just got this from Amazon and I have to say its absolutely superb. I am quite new to running and with the warm summer months and the temptations of beer and bbqs my enthusiasm was starting to go South for the sport.
However I feel this gadget has salvaged matters. I think the key to the success of this is its simplicity, whilst like every piece of technology it has about a million functions, where this shines is that it does the basics very well.
Battery life is very good.
GPS is very good even in built up areas. (even got a signal walking around Tescos)
All seems very sturdy and water proof.
