Wipeout (PS)

And so the futuristic gaming begins. Wipeout is a racing game using Anti-Gravity ships to speed through tracks using high-tech weaponry to destroy or hinder other racers. Along with Resident Evil, this game has some of the best graphics to offer for such an early title on the PSOne.

The real downside to the first instalment is the relative ease of the game. The tracks are not as challenging as some in the sequel 2097 or the latest instalment, Fusion. However, on the plus, the control system is easy, just think of using the L and R keys as a handbrake when turning sharp corners. The weapons are really cool and the fun just keeps on coming. This game is one of the overlooked of game history even tough it is one of the most well made games ever made for the playstation one.

It had a brilliant storyline which grew darker as it progressed and it had an superb musical score, (sure it was a bit corny but it fit well into the game) the graphics were good for the time and you could really get into the game.

The puzzles in the game were rock hard so if i would recomend a game guide (i got one free when i got the game) and it's no wonder it's considered the hardest games ever.

Sadly i even though i got it in 1997, but ten years later i still haven't completed it, one of the puzzles in Torla mountain wouldn't actually register properly so i couldn't progress ... Read More:

Wipeout 2097

The original WipEout was good. Fiddely controls and brainless AI let it down. With WipEout 2097 the developers took on board what gamers had said and made amends by producing one of the most entertaining, exciting and polished future racer games of all time. Everything, from the intro music and sequence, to the track design and physics of the crafts. It all just oozes quality. Even Wip3out could not emilate what the developers had captured at that time. If you have not got a copy, buy it, and experience a game which is still the benchmark of future racers 12 years after release.

Discworld 2

As good as the first game is stupid and obscure,this is a real joy to play. Just challenging enough to give you a sense of satisfaction on completion and easy enough to leave you with your sanity.
The characters are fun and interact with you satisfactorily and the animation is simple and clever. The game is of its time which is by no means yesterday,or even the day before, but I re-visit it more than any shoot em up in my collection. A knowledge of the Discworld enhances enjoyment but is not essential.

Destruction Derby 2

I love the DD series but I prefer the second instalment on PS1 the most purely because of its high grip levels and handling. In the third instalment which has far more options, the steering was awfully slow but here its much more responsive. The music is excellent too, as is the graphics which do not suffer from the muddy look that later games did. The only down side is the difficulty is rather easy. 2 player modes are the best way to go after you've got all the courses!

Discworld (PS)

This game is absolutely amazing. A must buy for any hardcore adventure fan, it involves a hell of a lot of gags and is quite frustrating at times, but still an addictive masterpiece. This game will take you an age to complete but is well worth it. The only trouble with this game is that it and its prequel (Discworld 1) are some of the rarest games to find and quite expensive considering its a ps1 game! But still an amazing buy.

Lemmings and Oh No! More Lemmings (PS)

Everyone surely remembers those cute little guys that we've all come to know and love as lemmings. However after playing this game you may not think of them ever again with such kind thoughts.
This game is extremely addictive and will keep you playing for hours. It is split into two sections; 'Lemmings' and 'oh no more lemmings!'. The title is very apt as you will be saying this over and over again.
The graphics in the game are nothing special but do enough to make the game a treat to play, whereas the cutesy music will have you humming long after you've turned your game off.
Now onto the most important, the gameplay. As was said before this game is very addictive, but there is a downside..... it is very frustrating. But hey, thats what lemmings ... Read More:
