At last we have exclusive Star Wars title for the Nintendo DS. The Clone Wars is an expansion of the Clone Wars animated film, due on DVD in December. A cargo of lightsaber crystals have been hijacked by an unknown enemy. Two Jedi are dispatched to investigate.
A beautiful intro sequence (and some wooden voice acting) takes us into the main game where we are presented with a choice of Jedi for the beginning of the mission. We have to choose any two from a choice of six Jedi, each with their own strength, force power and lightsaber type (colour of the blade). The Jedi are Anakin Skywalker, Ahsoka Tano (she's a Jedi in training), Obi-Wan Kenobi, Mace Windu, Plo Koon and Kit Fisto.
Movement and combat is entirely stylus driven. ... Read More:

I never owned a Gamecube, so I never got to play this game. I loved the prequal on the N64, and always thought that this game looked good, but just never got around to it. Now I own a Wii, the gateway to a plethora of retor games has opened before me and this is the first title checked off my "to buy" list. Of course, I had to buy a Gamecube remote and memory card - don't forget to grap those!
Anyway, this game looks fantastic (even now) and plays well. The controls are a little convoluted and tricky (I've no idea what my targetting computer efficiency score means and I've no idea how to improve it) but you get used to them. And this feels like Star Wars. It feels like your in the movies and it feels good.

For those who have never played an adventure game, like Escape From Monkey Island, the gameplay of this genre focuses on risk-free exploring of locations, finding items, interacting with characters and solving puzzles, rather than jumping across platforms or shooting deadly enemies. I would recommend that newcomers to the Monkey Island series try any of the three previous (PC) games before this one.
An important thing to say is that there are only a couple of differences, mostly not related to gameplay, between this edition of Escape From Monkey Island and the PC version.
The essence of the story is that pirate Guybrush Threepwood finds out that a sinister Australian is planning to take over his homeland of Melee Island, and ... Read More:
I suppose I wanted to love this game right from the start, so I deliberately tried to turn a blind eye to its faults (of which there are many) and focus on the good bits. The good: it's Star Wars on a console and, at the time, there was not a massive choice of decent Star Wars games for those of us without a PC. As a Star Wars game, the sound effects are superb - lightsabers whirl, blasters fire and John Williams' soundtrack plays lusciously throughout. It follows the events of 'The Phantom Menace' with a little creative license and is suitably maddening to keep you either coming back for one more go or looking for a somewhere to bury the game in the garden! And now the bad: I had to look for hints and tips on the web to help me get through some of this. ... Read More:
Star Wars Shadows of the empire is a well thought out game with good presentation good graphics and fun gameplay. The 1 problem with this is that it is very hard but you get the hang of it later. And your gun can only shoot twice before recharging. But apart from this the game is flawless.
The thing that gets me is how come the snowspeeders never run out of cable? They'd run out really quick if you're not very good. I would most definitely recommend this to anyone who like shooting things with red beams o' death.

Having played the original podracer game on N64 and had many fun hours doing so, I thought id give this a go. The graphics are certainly far superior to the original, and in many ways this game improves on the gameplay also; new features like the ability to properly destroy your opponents racers and to earn money for it are a highlight. Overall, this game was fun, but the tournament mode doesnt last long (unless you want to complete it with every character, which gets boring after the second or third run through).
Definitely the best game i've played recently. The graphics may not the best ever but the way in which you are forced to use your brain as well as purely blast things to pieces makes it well worth buying!

At last a good old fashioned, no nonsense, star wars based shoot em up for the PS1. True there's no frills, it's a basic ride around and blast the enemies game. The graphics are FAR SUPERIOR to the truly DREADFUL Jedi Power Battles and Phantom Menace. It's well worth the few extra pounds than the other episode one games. Buy it!
