Simple Facts.
It's better that 2008.
No single player lag.
Online still lags, it just depends on luck.
Recent UPDATE means ALL TRANSFERS are now FIXED to the latest.
I bought this on the 22nd Oct for £40, thank you amazon for discounting it so much after i bought it!

Even die-hard PES fans must be frowning.
I do not normally get involved with the Fifa v PES battle as I would rather spend my time playing games, but felt I needed to convey my thoughts on this years incarnation of PES2009.
I have played PES since I can remember and this is top of the list.
Problem is that the list I refer to is a list of games I wish I had never bought.
It is truly a dreadful effort, or lack of it, and has gone backwards in nearly all areas.
The main thing I look for in PES is playability, sadly this now has gone.
Once a lovely fluid game is now a clunky mismatch of poor graphics, passing errors and
Poor play. Sound effects have also taken a step backwards. For example. the sound of the ball ... Read More:

The price pretty much sums it up. This is a fairly solid incarnation of the series bearing in mind most of Konami's efforts are going into the Next-Gen versions.
The 'Become a Legend' mode is a nice idea but (as anyone who's played as 'fixed' on the old PESs while the comp controls the rest of the team)has very slow gameplay and frustrating as the AI doesn't learn how you like to play and often does irritating things like giving the ball away cheaply from a pass and wandering into opposition players with the ball at their feet.
Ultimately though if you want a footy game for when the boys (or girls) come round and don't want to/can't fork out for an Xbox 360 or PS3 then this is more than adequate and capable of filling hours with multiplayer fun.

This could very well be the best video game ever made. Never before has a game shown so much character development and such a great job of storytelling - yes, it's linear, and yes it does use a lot of cut-scenes; and simply, that's why it's so darn good. The gameplay is solid but the cut-scenes make this title something far more than a game.
Hideo Kojima is the only one who truly gets it. He's the Spielberg of video-games.
I was blown away. You owe it to yourself to buy this game.

The Wii is the only console I own, and I've been pretty happy with the machine so far. I was very excited when I heard PES was coming to the Wii, and the "revolutionary" control system really got my hopes high.
I was very disappointed with the way it turned out. Of course there is a learning curve to it, but even when you grasp it it turns out flat. Video game football is not about "realism". Kick Off, Sensible Soccer and the initial Fifa games were not brilliant because they where accurate representations of the beautiful game, but because they brought the excitement and football feelings to computers.
PES for the Wii is a dull game, disguised as "clever". The Nunchunk shaking is just appalling and the whole moving around of players and direction orienting ... Read More:

I fail to understand all the criticism.
Get a wireless x-box 360 controller for your PC, plug in and play. The graphics have been criticised a few times for some reason but I think they look great: good player likenesses and a crisp, clean overall look. The gameplay is vastly superior to the last version and it plays an excellent game of football. The 50-50 challenges are NOT always won by the computer; you must be doing something badly wrong as for me they are dependant on the player's strength and skill.
Defending is good: cover the passes, close the space. When they score you don't feel cheated, it feels like you made a mistake and was punished. Attacking is also well done: through balls are not always pefect but that adds to the realism (even Stevie G gets a few wrong!). Shooting ... Read More:

First off let me say ive always been a massive fan of the Pro Evolution series and I have owned every one ever right from the first on the Playstation called ISS Pro I still play Pro Evo 4 on the PS2 and Pro Evo 6 on my pc but as far as my Xbox 360 is concerned there has yet to be anything like a next generation game.
Pro evolution 08 on Xbox360 is dreadful for a start the gameplay is too fast. Gone are the great hard fought 1-0 wins now its likely to be a 5-5 draw in 10 minutes. It has become a pinball speed type arcade game with some players running like Olympic sprinters on steroids. The graphics are poor and the editor is next to useless. I just hope Pro Evo 09 will be good but so far on the next generation consoles Konami have failed to produce the goods.

I have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer games since the first one came out for Playstation 2 some years ago and have been buying the updated games yearly up until Pro Evo 5. So when the new edition for the PS3 was released I couldn't wait as finally I was looking forward to playing it online most of all and was my main reason for buying it.
Firstly though to the single player game: My initial reaction is somewhat disappointed as I feel that the gameplay feels slowly and not as crisp and exciting as the PS2 versions. The are very additions as compared to FIFA 08 which has much more depth and challenges. But for the time being I can cope with these niggles as it was the online features I was mostly concerned about.
Online is a huge disappointment and very shoddy. Mostly the games play ... Read More:
