The Sims 2: Castaway (PS2)

This game is awesome. I was completely hooked on it from start to finish. Even though your Sims are stuck on a desert island, it never gets boring. There are always things to do, recipes to make, things to build etc etc. It can get challenging as well, especially when you're desperately trying to build up your skill points so that you can complete a task. In my opinion it's a game for all gamers, whether you're casual or hardcore. Having already played it through once this will definitely be a game I can enjoy playing again and again.

The Sims 2: Pets (PSP)

If you were considering whether to get Sims2 or Sims2 Pets for the PSP without a doubt I'd buy the Sims2.

This is more like the original Sims - no storyline and you just progress learning more skills and geting better careers and houses.

BUT it is far less entertaining than the PS2 versions I've played mostly because the lack of locations - your house and one park with a few shops.

The pets are annoying - they takes ages to train and wander off mid training session. You don't get that with learning skills at least the bookcases etc stay in one place. They are not fun pets either. All they seem to do is wander around leaving puddles. You are supposed to be able to scold them and train them but they wander off ... Read More:

The Sims: Castaway Stories (PC DVD)

I should say first of that i love to make stories with The Sims 2, but some of my characters were growing old and I wanted to put them in a different environment. In comes Sims Castaway - it would be so cool to see my sims shipwrecked on an Island! A great way to write my character out of a Sims 2 plot for a while.
But no, recreating a Sims 2 character isn't straightforward. For one thing, the story mode, the best bit, is limited by age and as my guy was elderly I was so gutted to see I could only use some pretty, young twenty-something guy. A system where you could import Sims from the Sims 2 seems to me a very big missed opportunity.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08 (PS2)

Having owned and played TW-2004 on Xbox, TW-2007 on PS2, and TW-2009 on PS3, I have to say I reckon this 2008 version is the best as it combines great graphics and characters with gameplay that is neither too easy (as TW2004 was, nor too hard, as TW-2007 was)...and while TW-2009 looks great on the PS3, I prefer the lack of crowds and the less complicated gameplay in this 08 version. This is the best T.W game so far IMO - and cheap too

FIFA 08 (PS3)

This is by far the best football game I have ever played. The gameplay is good because if you get a good team that work together well you can score loads of goals. The only bad things are that the keepers are very inconsintent and sometimes you make a firm but fare challenge and you get a yellow card for it.

game modes-pretty good
Overall it is a very good football game.

Fight Night Round 3 (Xbox 360)

On single-player this is a good game. However, the on-line mode makes this a truely great game. This is by far the best boxing game to come out on any console and it should appeal to any fan of the fight game.

The game play is fluid, the tactics are realistic. Im still playing the game on a regular basis and Ive had it for years.

The on-line mode is exceptional. The AI (in single player mode) is not the greatest but when playing another human player from some where around the world then this game is in a league of its own.

If your a fan of boxing and video games ... then this is a must buy.

Need for Speed: Carbon (PS2)

NFS comes in for a bit of stick at times. Usually for being repetative. Why buy them otherwise? The last few titles have lacked somewhat but this is a bit of an improvement and a return to form.

First up, back to driving at night. Carbon City is a hilly, neon lit metropolis. A bit like driving around Scarborough in the dark. The object of the game is to claim terratories. The map is split into zones. As you win races in each, your team (which you create) controls the zone. The object is to control the map.

Graphically the games a bit ropey as is the sound. There is noticable screen tearing, jerkyness and pop up at times. Slowdown is evident when things get heavy on screen. The cars handle like Titanic trying to avoid an iceberg. However, ... Read More:

Boogie (Wii)

I was overjoyed to get this game, being a huge lover of kareoke and dancing and thought it would be fantastic. I had it for one night and sold it immediately (thanks Amazon).

Although I did have fun (most likely assisted by copious amounts of wine)! I found the game highly irritating because:

You have to go through a long and boring tutorial initially.

Making the character dance just involves wiggling your hand with the remote and messing about with the nunchuck. Since I clearly couldn't do this with a mike in my hand we had one person singing and one dancing.

There is is a very limited selection of cover songs, of which only a handful are good/recognisable.

The Sims 2: Castaway (PSP)

This game has many pros, but also some cons and its difficult to explain all of them. But the main disappointment of this game is that i did get bored of it after the first 2 weeks of having it, and this is why - it is a bit slow. Changing from one area of the island to another is frustrating because it takes so long, and you have to go in the jungle alot to collect things. Also, mine did freeze once and i had to quit and loose everything!
However, and please do read on - there is no other game out there like this. I watch Shipwrecked and then play this and it is even more realistic than the show itself! It is also easier to play your sims - they dont get tired too quickly, and their needs are generally easier to fulfill than in the normal sims. Its also fun building houses, ... Read More:
