Now FFVII (Final Fantasy 7/VII) was in short a masterpiece.
I am not over rating it as a fanboy it had flaws but it was one hell of a ride. This game is how that ride begins...
Now this like the game it spun off from isnt without its niggles. The combat needs a little tweaking and as normal the engilsh cast of actors are cheesy. But with a great story giving more depth to great cast FFVII it makes more than what is needed for a great game.
As a bonus for FFVII geeks (like myself) there are meny cameos from classics of the PS1 game meny moments from said game that are remade. Such as the (Not a spoller) the famous Nibelheim is remade (Which looks fantastic) with the classic flames moment. Plus most of the ... Read More:

This is actually the 9th final fantasy game I have played. Funny that I have been very backward about Final fantasy but I am in the UK and the first FF game was the absolute classic 7th.
Anyway, this is nothing like other final fantasy games that have fixed characters and extremely long storyline. This game is a bit like Might and Magic that you need to decide your own jobs and character but the stats are fixed though.
One of the bad points about FF games is that they usually have no replay value. Not the version instalment. You can try different combination of the jobs and create your different parties.
Supporting magic is more helpful than later ff games because in later games, your character can be trained so strong ... Read More:

This is a ff game more like a ff game. You should finish the game in 20 hours but if you power levelling and boosting stats, it can take 30 hours (Don't do it. Game becomes ridiculously easy if you do that).
Just for reference. Your stats by the end of the game for the main character should have HP around 2500 and MP 400. I got to 9000 and 800 in the end, final boss was like a joke to me.
There are new dungeons as well and puzzles are not as good as ff1's but it is still not bad. Like later ff games, it does not have much replay value because everything is almost the same but still if you decide to replay, you can try to develop characters into different jobs, just they don't have any titles for them.

There are a few reviews on here that cover this game well, see the one below for example. However, and I have found this to be quite an issue when I was first deciding on a new handheld system, there are an awful lot of lies about the PSP by DS fanboys.
What you need to know is that this is a remake of the PSOne classic that never made it to Europe and had many people either importing or using other means to get hold of the game. I personally hold this as the best tactical RPG ever, even above the mighty Disgaea, Shining Force 2 and Front Mission 3. The story is rich and dark and heavily revolves around the theme of class systems, what makes the story so good is that it is a Japanese take on European culture and history which makes for something both unique ... The Breath of Fire games have always been my favourite playstation games, as most of the more powerful rpg's are for the computer (eg. baldurs gate + neverwinter nights). Though I have yet to experience Breath of Fire I and II. Breath of Fire III is easily the most enjoyable playstation game I have ever played. Though I would prefer this game was famous because of it's original release and not because it is just another game for the psp, I will gladly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fantasy and rpg. Anyone can enjoy the flexibility of the characters. I would say the only improvement that could be made on the Breath of Fire series is more versitility. I would prefer you could make options in the game, not just wether or not you battle for the brood or give your life to the goddess and ... Read More:

About this game I have to say that this is a good work. I like on it the good graphics and that it leaves you in suspence.I like to be in a world of imagination and to travel in the time. When you play this game you have the pleasure inside you and when you end this game you say "Why it is over,I want to play it again." I think that this game is one of the best games for PSP.

Possibly one of the most striking titles available for the PSP, 'Valkyrie Profile: Lenneth' is a fascinating game for the more serious gamer. Not for action fans, this is an immeasurably detailed experience and you have to endure a good hour of cut scenes before getting involved yourself. But the battle system is easy to pick up and there is plenty for the old grey matter to chew over during play.
The premise of the game is to reap fallen souls for the on-going battle against the Vanir in Misgard and train them in combat. To do this, you must enter the dungeons and clear them of adversaries, completing tasks as you go. At the end of a chapter, it's a good idea to send an einherjar to Misgard or the battle will begin to turn against you. The graphics, though basic in places, are well-rendered ... Read More:

despite the little reveaoling manufacturer description this game is amazing, basically the idea is to customize your own character from three races, (male or female), and at least six classes - i thik you can unlock more - and you use this character aswell as other NPC custom characters to take on dundeons and find jewels. There are lots of weapons and armours to choose from and the difficulty is not o hard but challenging:
gameplay: 9/10
grafics: 7/10
custonization: 8/10
fun-factor: 9/10
Rpg factor: 9/10
overall: 9/10
if you like RGPs or MMORPGs this game is the non-online, online optional, handheld substitute: get it!
