I've tried other controllers for the PS2, and in the end there is no other controller quite like the Dualshock 2. The buttons on other controllers often require quite a conscious effort to use them, but the Dualshock 2's analogue buttons are actually analogue - press lightly and you'll get one response, press a little harder and you'll get another, and so on. The Dualshock 2 seems to last as long as any other controller and is simply better quality, so there's no real competition there.

As for the usefulness of a Dualshock 2 now that the PS3 is out - the Sixaxis controller bundled with the PS3 doesn't have rumble functionality, and a Dualshock 3 with rumble and Sixaxis tilt sensors will currently set you back quite a bit compared to a ... Read More:

It's quite simple really :). In terms of technology now it's all about being wireless. So if you are looking to buy a new controller, for the extra dosh it is definitely worth buying this one and not the wired one.

No cables, no mess, no fuss. Plus the black looks much cooler than the white.

this headset breaks so often i am on my 3rd wiredless headset it refeusd to work i then have to phone micosoft up and be on the phone line for 45 min total headache explaining to them . they do send you a another headset for free.this to me is same as the 3 ring of death this total rubbish built and it not cheap

There is no doubt that the component cable improves the picture. It's sharper, the contrast is more pronounced, the text is infinitely more readable...however, there is a down side.

Because the cable is so good, it highlights the weaknesses in the Wii. While static background images are far superior, moving parts of the game (your Mii in Wii Sports Tennis for example) are far more pixelated. It seems to be evident on some games more than others - MarioKart in particular seems more pixelated.

There is a definte trade off between the improved sharpness and resulting pixelation. For most, this will come down to personal preference.

I bought a secondhand sony 6axis and was very disapointed as did not work properly, so cauiton don't pay to much for seconds and dont be surprised if they are faulty

I bought this control - despite having a PS3 I'm still playing PS2 games as there are so many great (cheap!) games and it would solve the problem of having my PS2 half way across the floor (my sofa is about 10 feet from tv).

One extra advantage is that I was able to use joysticks for a game 'Assault' in Namco Vol 4 which you can only do with keys on normal controller. It's an old game (for PS1!) but I was excited when I saw it was there and would work on PS2 as I loved the original in the arcade. It doesn't work though with the analog controls in the normal PS2 controller though but a lot of these alternative joysticks remap the keys to joysticks in analog mode (which this one does) so I was able to use the joysticks. I have used the N52 for a while now after starting to suffer from aching hands and lower arms from using keyboards to play FPS games.

the N52 cured those problems and this latest version is even better with lovely keys.

highly recommended.

There isn't much to say about this controller. Only that it works perfectly, the analog sticks are very rubbery for great grip and that has a kind of paint that will never rub off. Although 2 problems, 1: The start and select buttons are annoyingly high, so you have to stretch your thumb to reach them, and 2: the r1 and r2 buttons only work if you press them near the edge (towards you). But these just take getting used to.
Other than that, fully reccomended.
