We used this book during our holiday to Lake Garda. We toured around the lake during a week and found this book very useful for finding out which places were worth a visit and which we could give a miss. Some areas are very detailed; with the guide advising you of places to park etc which was very useful for us.

We really enjoyed doing the walks/drives that were instructed in this guide. We particularly enjoyed the drive from Riva del Garda and Limone sul Garda. The instructions were easy to follow and the route it takes you through was brilliant; great views and a real experience to drive.

The maps included were useful for reference although you would probably need additional maps to find specific roads within a town/village. ... Read More:

Although I initially bought this guidebook as a backup, it rapidly became my first choice. This was because I found it to be practically sized, informative and enjoyable to read. The author has an obvious affection and enthusiasm for Japan and this was communicated in all descriptions of sites. Suggested walks were described clearly and the guide never feels like a directory of things you should do. Interesting sections about aspects of Japanese culture are useful and informative. The book is attractively illustrated, colourful and entertaining. A limited selection of hotels and restaurants are listed at the back.

We have decided that from now on we're only going to visit places that have a Sprial Guide written about them - they have become indispensible to us over the past few years - Barcelona, Venice, Florence and now Paris. There's just the right mix of travellers' tips, interesting facts about the place, good up-to-date information re opening times, prices etc. The maps are suberb (though why does the street we're on always land on a join?!). And the best thing of all is the SPIRAL!! - No losing your place when the book shuts itself, no broken spines, no need for a bookmark - Genius!!

We found this book to be most useful when we visited Iceland.
A nice,slim size and easy to carry around,the book is full of useful information and definitely recommended.

This is really just a list of places to see with very little background information eg where to park. The map is extremely disappointing, it comprises a street map of a small area of Downtown which is of no use at all to the casual tourist & an inset of the Hollywood area. There is no map of many other places a tourist would like to visit like Santa Monica, Long Beach, Anaheim etc or any description of how to get there. I would say don't bother & use the internet instead.
