We bought the roundhouse for our son when he was two and a half. He was thrilled with it initially and we would always find lost trains stored away inside it. However he has never really gotten the hang of it and he finds the doors very hard to manouver with the trains. I think the roundhouse without the doors would be better. We are hoping that as he grows older and plays differently with his Brio set he will start to use the roundhouse in stories and "pretend" games. This has to be one of the most durable of toys. My husband of 100kg has stood on the roundhouse without any noticeable damage. My son sits on the roundhouse, jumps off the roundhouse and generally abuses the roundhouse without any discernable wear.
