My 4 year old daughter really enjoys this software cartridge and has spent many happy hours playing independently on it. She particularly enjoys singing along to the songs (as do her older brothers of 8 and 10!).
The educational content is good but perhaps not quite as strong as some of the other available software cartridges. It is extremely easy for her to use independently and it certainly provides hours of pleasure. In my opinion this software is best aimed at girls aged 4 to 6 as regards educational content but I'm sure an older child would still enjoy playing on the games and listening to the songs.

Classic Etch A Sketch - The World's Favourite Drawing Toy

We bought one of these classic toys for our 7 year old. It was great for a couple of weeks until the vertical movement jammed. We sent off for a new one from the suppliers but it never arrived. Took three follow up phone calls and an extremely irate fax to get any response from the suppliers who finally supplied a new one nine months after the first one broke!

The quality of new models is not as good as the ones I remember when I was a kid. The plastic is not as strong and is more brittle. It can be cracked if dropped. The mechanism is not as good either. The knobs are more difficult to hold because they're smaller (not just because I'm older!) and are not as smooth in use.

Wonderworld Wooden Peek A Boo Ball

My 9 month old loves this toy, and so does everyone who picks it up! Hours of fun and such a simple idea. I'll be buying this again and again for my friends as they have babies.

Nircom Babysense ll Movement/Sound Monitor

We have an eight month old baby and have just purchased this monitor. We had previously been using our Tommee Tippee Ultimate sensor monitor which has been great too but for the last couple of months the alarm has gone off several times a night where the baby has rolled off the sensor mat.
I was not happy about spending yet more money on another monitor but for peace of mind decided I should. At last a peaceful nights sleep!!
The Babysense mats are great and do cover the whole cot area. There is no sound monitor though so I still use the one from my Tommee Tippee. I would definately recommend this product to those purchasing their first monitor but would suggest that they also purchase a basic audio monitor to work alongside it

BRIO 33754 Wooden Railway System: Magnetic Bell Signal

We were very disapointed with this item - the bell ring is VERY quiet and the magnetic ringer only works with brio trucks that have large metal hubs on the wheels. If, like us, you have a hybrid set of Tesco/Thomas/Brio etc. you may find some problems with getting the bell to ring at all.

It's a good idea but just doesn't work well in practice.
we recommend a level crossing or collapsing bridge instead.

Tomy Choo Choo Loop

When I first got this, I was initially disappointed at the size. The picture doesn't really give you an idea, and I suppose I was thinking the train itself would be chunky and big. In fact, it's a fair size, but quite dinky. The loop, when setup, is about 12" across and the train is about 3" long.

This is quite entertaining for the kids. Mine got it when she was 9 months old, and she still plays with it, even if it's only for a few minutes at a time.

Fisher-Price Link-a-doos - Infant to Toddler Rocker

I purchased this chair because i have large babys that usually reach the chairs limits before the age the chair is for.
I thought it would be strong but was deeply disappointed. Definately not the normal quality I expected from FP. The seems in the chair are tearing already and my son is only 4mths.
At birth there wasnt enough support so i would purchase a head support to use as my son slumps in to one side when a baby.
The vibration fuction is noisy and can become annoying at times.
This is a 5th child and this is definately money wasted as mine is now having to be replaces already.

Fisher-Price Brilliant Basics Stacking Action Blocks

I was given these blocks as a gift for my sons 1st birthday he is now 4 and his little brother is now in the front room playing with them! they have great appeal as single blocks, lots to look at on each but stack them up and bang the tops & the dial spins, my first boy spent hours just spinning the silver dial around and my youngest who is 11 months does the same!! Great value toy which will get lots of use for years to come.

Philips AVENT DECT SCD499 Baby Monitor with Travel Pack

We have the previous 'orange' model of this monitor (before Avent paired up with Philips to make this model), and it has been absolutely fantastic for our 1st child. So we bought this new 'blue' Avent/Philips model for our 2nd child, thinking it would be identical. However, rather than provide a continuous link to the baby's room, it only kicks in when a sound is made. This means that you can miss the first part of the noise. Hardly reassuring. In fact, we have heard our child cough from the room below, and the monitor has not picked it up, and has only kicked in AFTER the cough.
