VTech Whiz Kid: Thomas & Friends: A Busy Day on the Island of Sodor

Normally I would award the vtech series 5 stars but I've dinged it this time because there are errors on the cards. For instance, on one of the first cards there are a series of animals; some cows, sheep, hens, ducks and goats. It gives commands like "Point to an animal that gives us wool" which is fine. However, two commands have multiple answers: "Point to an animal with feathers" and "Point to an animal which lays eggs" and my little girl automatically points to the hens. Wrong! According to this, only the duck lays eggs. Now, my little girl knew full well that this was wrong, so now she doesn't trust the other answers.

Although our 4 year old loves it, even he notices that some questions and answers do not tally - for instance, you are asked to find 4 honey pots of a certain type when there are only 3.

The demonstration book that comes with it is full of faults. When trying to sound letters, some do not work, others are spoken as words, not letters. We bought two ThinkPad plus books in error, and were planning to buy the hardware anyway, but found a demonstration of the reading book we had bought and saw that all the letters were upper case, where they are meant to learn lower case first.. don't want to confuse him any more.
Overall, very disappointed really.

LeapFrog Finding Nemo - Leapster Software

We think the Leapster is a fantastic toy and our 5 year-old little boy has clearly gained a lot from his, which he has been using since the age of three. It's particularly great to have on hand for long plane and car journeys. Our only disappointment is that this game FINDING NEMO and also TALKING WORDS FACTORY both have an American narration, despite the fact that they were purchased here in the UK. LEARNING WITH LEAP, the game that came with the unit, has a British voice so clearly there are versions out there with domestic pronunciation. It's a shame they don't stipulate on the box.

VTech Winnie The Pooh Slide and Learn Storybook

This was bought for my son's first Christmas when he was 5 months old, he loved it then and 2 years on he still sits and plays with it, that is what I call value for money! I think it helps improve eye hand co-ordination as well as the concept of cause and effect (turn the page hear music, slide the slides and get a story).

I am now buying it for my friend's little girl who is having her first Christmas at nearly 5 months old and am confident it will be as much of a hit with her.

This is a very well put together interactive book. It covers a number of development areas such as counting, colours, shapes and even musical notes.

The voice samples are in a British accent which I think is worth pointing out as some of the other interactive books are in an American accent.

this dora laptop is fantastic, we have it two years now and it is still as good as when it first arrived in the house and still going strong on the original batteries.....my girls 5 and 2 fight over it all the time they love it so much...i would recommend this to anyone it is the most durable toy i have ever bought...ps...u can usually get this at a bargin
