Much has been made of this album and the singles lifted from it, particularly the now grating 'Mercy' (surely a candidate for most annoying pop single of the year). Dont get me wrong I quite liked this when I heard it for the very first time but after a being force fed it by the radio several times I suddenly realised how weak it was. Its trying too hard to be something it is not ie a classic 60's pop song, its simply a pale approximation.
How she has been compared to the legendary Dusty Springfield is one of lifes great mysteries it must surely be simply a visual thing. Otherwise its like comparing cheap wool with silk. Will she be remembered in 30 years time? I doubt it.
If you like weak retro songs with little ... Read More:

AC/DC bounce back with an album full of fun and inspiration. Featuring their most catchy songs since the early 80's, the band have gone for hooks and melodies aplenty, apparently encouraged by producer Brendan O'Brien, who has also coaxed a more soulful, rather less strained performance from a very impressive Brian Johnson. Johnson, aged 60 when Black Ice was recorded, rolls back the years with a voice which whilst weathered, sounds strong and of more texture than for many a year. He sounds powerful and shrill in the style of his 80's heyday on tunes like Big Jack and Spoilin' For A Fight, adds his traditional gritty edge to superb, bluesy lines on Decibel, and just sounds altogether fantastic on the anthemic Rock 'n' Roll Train and Money Made.

The first time I listened to my Dark Horse download, it was with on the rubbish speakers of my lap top. I thought I had wasted my money and was disappointed big time, especially since I had just seen them at the 02. The whole album, despite the nature of some of the lyrics, sounded too sanitised and soft, not at all like NB. But then hearing it over a much better sound system, it was WOW. I haven't stopped listening to it yet. Get decent earphones for your Ipod / mp3 too.

This, for me personally is my favourite Coldplay album yet.
I think they're finding their sound, expressing their personality and experimenting on this album making it much more interesting, daring and individual than X&Y and even A rush of Blood.
I like this new, evolving nature in Coldplay, more of the same please!

I once heard an interview where Noel Gallagher proclaimed that Oasis, in his opinion, were in the top 3 of bands of all time. On this, and several other albums worth of evidence, it is quite clear that they aren't anywhere near the top 3 of Manchester bands! to say this album is a bit 'samey' is a 'massive' understatement! I was going to re-name them status quoasis, but that would be a great insult to status quo! I would advise anyone to borrow this album before buying, I wish I had, i'd be £8.99 better off now!!

I first saw / heard Seasick Steve (Steve Wold) on Jools Holland's 'Later' TV show on the BBC a couple of years ago. I wasn't quite sure what to expect when he appeared on my TV screen. He looked more like a busker than a star in the making, but by the time he had finished his song, I was a fan, along with thousands of others who saw him that night. In short, he blew us all away. He was on the show again recently in order to publicise this new album and guess what, he blew us away again! The star performer.
This album is probably the result of Steve's first appearance on Jools' show and it would seem that Mr Holland has to some degree provided a guiding hand or least support, in it's making...the presence of Ruby Turner (A regular performer with Jools' band) on the track ... Read More:

I really like razorlight and am slightly dissapointed by this album. There are a few good songs like hostage of love and wire to wire but the rest is dissapointing.

Morrison's opening single The Only Night is an unusually upbeat pop record for the album, setting the mood for a mixed bag of gems that throw you a variety of moods from happiness to sorrow.
The next two singles, Save Yourself and You Make It Real have James Morrison written all over them.. in a good way. There's a part of me that feels You Make It Real's chorus resembles a more down beat version Simply Red's stars, if only for a second or two. You Make It Real still manages to be an utterly original and sensual melody, paving the way for a variety of even more appealing single releases.
The dramatic, melancholy collaboration with Nelly Furtado might remind you of Snow Patrol and Martha Wainwright's brilliant Set The Fire To The Third Bar and Precious Love puts Morrison's ... Read More:
