Fourth outing from this not incompetent little combo finds Mr Draiman
and cohorts floundering in increasingly lame-brain territory.
Classification-junkies will doubtless debate categories and sub-categories
but what we are delivered here is simple, guitar-led, hard rock of a
wholesomely traditional kind - and nothing essentially wrong with that of course.

This one took quite a few listenings before I began to realise the strength of some of the lyrics and the emotional power of just about every track.
Some don't like the strong presence of female vocals - personally I love this especially on 'Alexandra Leaving' and 'Here it is'.
I love this album and think others who know Cohen's work will too - and hopefully, many others who don't know his work will hereby get to know it.

Back in the late 70's & mid 80's, for a period of about 10years, the Gabriel-era Genesis, was my favourite band - a place that's been occupied by King Crimson for well over 20 years now. Nevertheless, Genesis has remained one of my old-time favourites, specially the Gabriel & Hackett periods, along with a few songs from albums up to Duke.
I was quite hesitant to purchase this Box-set as I practically don't really listen to Genesis at all any more - and yet, having an SACD player contributed to my decision to get it.
Sadly, due to my living conditions - I live in a flat where I can't really play loud music - I resort to listening to music on a good set of headphones only.
But now to the music -- THIS BOX-SET WAS ... Read More:

In the days where being talented is no longer a requisit to be a singer/songwriter, here is a total breath of fresh air from one of the most talented of them all, Paul Weller.
The prententious and talentless Robbie Williams should take a look at this DVD and apologise to everybody for the codswallop he has churned out.
Anyway back to the immensley talented Paul Weller, the DVD is a collection of four TV appearances, 3 live cuts and finishing with a TOTP section. Tracks include the brilliant You Do Something To Me, Changingman, Porcelain Gods, Broken Stones, From The Floorboards Up, Heavy Soul and from the Jam songbook In The City, Down The Tube Station and A Town Called Malice.
Its is absolutely excellent and I cannot speak to highly of it

Nice music. I really should give it up though after having countless versions of most of this material but, the issue here is packaging. The imbeciles who designed this must either a) not own any CDs or b) couldn't give a monkey's over whether what CDs they do own are covered in finger marks or scratches. To get the Cds out you have to somehow prise open the sleevs and....ooops!...the sleeve splits. Pathetic. What's wrong with a regular jewel case?

i dont think the content overall needs to be reviewed, its all classic abba and can all be found elsewhere EXCEPT for I AM THE CITY, this track is still ,as far as i know, not available anywhere else except on this album,(im not counting the COMPLETE STUDIO RECORDINGS box set,the purchase of which may necessitate a small mortgage) and i cant believe no other review has mentioned this. If you@re a fan , its the main reason to buy this album, and if your collecting all abba's recordings,it makes this essential. oh, and if you havent heard it the track is great, not one of their moving and meaningful ones but its fun, hypnotic and sparkly,;incredible arrangement and production, -i know thats kind of a given for abba- but - much more so than, for example something like ... This album is a pleasant surprise! Having spent many, many happy years listening to Travis on recording and live I thought that there time had been and gone but seems there is life in the old dogs yet!! Well, they are not that old but you get the drift. Each track is unmistakably Travis, mildly rocking and well written. There are no bad tracks but to be fair none that are outstanding either. My personal faves are "Friends", "Chinese Blues" and "J.Smith" and "Before You Were Young". All in it is Travis in more mature mode as you would expect. It is not "The Man Who" or "Good Feeling" as they were more of the moment if you like but it's a solid, enjoyable album that is not trying to be something it isn't! Worth buying for definite.

Three words to describe this, awful, awful and awful, it deserved to be the flop it was. Britney may have made a couple of decent pop songs a few years back, but her days are over, she now looks hackneyed and cliched, she'll be remembered far more for her personal problems, than her music

One of the most overrated albums ever. Why G n R were ever feted beats me. They were nothing special, just one of a long line of dire hair metal acts from Sunset Strip. G n R only differed in that they tended to rip off Aerosmith rather than Van Halen. Slash is a competent enough guitar player but he's added nothing to the canon of axemanship but Axl Rose has a voice that strips paint. Even if you allow for the hits as being half OK the other tracks are dismal, plodding sub Stones riffage.
