The '17 North Parade' offshoot of the VP record label has been issuing excellent reggae revive albums and compilations for a few years now but this might be their masterpiece which is appropriate as VP records evolved from the Jamaican based Randy's record label which is the subject of this compilation. The package includes two full hour plus music CDs and a "bonus" DVD telling the story of Randy's. Whilst the DVD is a pretty basic affair the story it tells is fascinating for reggae buffs like myself and the wealth of talent involved is amazing for the cognoscenti including many luminaries from the golden age of reggae. All the favourite gems that I loved from the late 60's are here. I can't think of anything missing from the days of Ben Shermans, braces, tonic trousers, Crombies and Doc Martens. A few I havn't heard for nearly 40 years! With so many tracks there has to be a few that are not going to be to your taste.

Some of the cover versions are a bit naff, although I found a few good, new to me, tracks that more than make up for them. So 'Tighten Up' all you old (original) skinheads and lovers of original Jamacian reggae buy this one, and any new to old fashioned reggae, even Amy Winehouse recorded Money Man. You will not be let down by this fine collection.

`Question is does Bunny sound like Bob, or does Bob sound like Bunny!? No matter, the inspirational source is the same and the result is exultation, as the Blackheart man gives praise to the most high!

Purchased as an after thought while looking for some Burning Spear, this album has kept me so sweet since buying it over a week ago. Tracks 5 & 7 are the only weak points on this solid Roots- Rock- Steady offering. `The Oppressed Song' and `Bide Up' are like medicine for the soul. Buy this. I defy you to be disappointed!

B Sides and C Sides

As expected, this compilation is hit and miss. There are some good songs here such as 'Killing Zone' and 'Stranded', taken from the 'Fall Back Down' single, but not really album quality. For me the highlights are the two songs taken from the 'Let me go' single; 'Ben Zanotto' and 'Dead and Gone'. For fans of Matt Freeman and his bass guitar, listen to 'White Knuckle Ride' - the best bass lines featured in any Rancid song. "True" fans won't need this compilation - they will have been hunting down all single releases and vinyl only versions of these songs since 1993. Only buy this if you own every Rancid CD, every side project and Solo CD, and need this to complete your collection.

Here's a chance to hear it all on CD in one place. It's still fun music, the voice is still worth its weight in gold and it brings you back to your youth.

Wednesday 25th 2006, 7:00 PM. This was when I saw Reel Big Fish at Aylesbury Civic Centre. It was the first gig I ever saw and will probably always be my most memorable. they were perfect. the energy they gave off and the quality of their performance. They made us all go crazy. Mosh pits and the whole crowd smiling. They made us sing, they made us laugh, made my friend cry, they made us angry (when they left the stage before the encore. Quote me: "Get your asses back on stage!")and they made us cheer like it was 1999 all over again. The encore kicked ass

I bought this album and I haven't listened to anything else since.

You know when you hear a track off and album and then buy it and it turns out that the track you heard was the only good one... well that doesn't happen here.

I don't normally write these reviews, but on this occaision I am as I have enjoyed this album so much that I want to recommend it to as many people as possible.

This is a brilliant album. Every track is great. If its sunny, it's just the thing to listen to. If it's grey and miserable out, put it on and it feels like its sunny outside.

This is probably going to be my favorite album of the year. And if you get "Reggae Hit L.A." to go with it you'll have an hour and a half of great ... Read More:

Saw the man himself at Glastonbury Festival 2003 and he brought the sunshine out and Jamaica to the people what a show. This CD is a fantastic collection of all his hits and you wont go wrong by listening to this on a hot summers day - you will have a smile on your face. This is about as uplifting as music can get.
