Oh dear oh dear . Despite all Georgee does to make himself a total laughing stock , out the good folk of this world dash to get another slab of his genius in concert or on CD's such as this . Honestly people , you can do better . Not one of these dirges sticks in the mind long enough to be forgettable , they just drift through the mind with the impact of a car insurance advert , but at least you need to have car insurance . Take it from me you really don't have to listen to George . Your ears not were designed to be used so badly .

I didn't buy this album because it would have been pointless, i already own all of the songs from buying the last greatest hits album. Of course there's no denying that the vocals are astounding, but this wouldn't change no matter how many collections she brought out. I believe this album is the best choice for anyone who is just getting introduced to Whitney Houston, as it only contains the main songs that she's known for full stop, there are certainly no fillers or remixes it's just the very best of Whitney, but for fans such as me, who've followed her though each album from beginning to end are yearning for some new material, and are getting very board with collection after collection.

Northern Soul is the ultimate OXYMORON - joyous irresistable uptempo dance music but with some of the saddest most moving lyrics about lost love.
Although I already have most of these tracks in my collection, to me, four tracks alone are worth the cover price.
At the discotheque
You didn't say a word
I have faith in you
You just don't know
If you don't have / know many of these tracks and you like Tamla Motown buy 2 copies. One for you and one for your best friend.
And when you play these tracks and you spine tingles with joy you will be "converted".

I was a huge NKOTB fan many years ago - but I was rather dubious about buying their new album - I wanted to remember them as they were and wasn't sure whether they would come back with the same sort of stuff and expect it still to work (even though none of us are 14 yrs old any more!)
However having taken the plunge and purchased The Block, all i can say is - BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT!
It really is excellent. The new songs are sassy with collaborations with The Pussycat Dolls, Neyo and New Edition. I must say I have been very very pleasantly suprised with the decent music that NKOTB have produced.
Listening to the album - I dont think Summertime was the best single to release first, as Summertime was probably as near ... Read More:

Michael Jackson is THE ultimate performer. Regardless of how you see him as a person, he is an electrical force to be reckoned with in his work. That man can MOVE!! No one can move like him, his voice is immediately recognisable, his style is stupendous. He has given us some memorable music and dance, and I for one am grateful for that. Who could ever forget Thriller, Billie Jean, and my own personal favourite, Man in the Mirror? This album contains tracks that can be found on previous works, but all together on one album? Yes please!! Its the ultimate album from the ultimate performer, and lets give him the credit he deserves for that. No one performs like Michael Jackson., and I'd still pay to see him. However, this album is the next best thing to a live ... Read More:

Many Motown stars recorded Christmas albums and tracks from those albums have been the source of many Motown Christmas compilations. This is one of a pair of British budget compilations that are as good as any I've seen, with an excellent mix of famous and obscure songs and all the singers you expect to hear.
Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, the Jackson five and Stevie Wonder are each represented by three tracks. The Temptations and Diana Ross and the Supremes each get two tracks, though Diana also gets a solo track. The Four Tops also get two, including one featuring guest vocalist Aretha Franklin. The Funk brothers and Marvin Gaye have one track each.
For me, the highlights are Everyone's a kid at Christmas time (Stevie Wonder), Merry Christmas ... Read More:

Elvis' only album of the '50s with no fast tempo rock and roll, and for good reason: it was his first Christmas, so the decibel level had to be lower. He does wail on the incredible blues-rock opener, "Santa Claus Is Back In Town". It's Elvis doin' his thing, driving home the double-entendres. It's been written that this album was banned, and the banners didn't have to go too far into the album to find something...too strong. "Blue Christmas" is medium-tempo blues-rock, a gem of a tune, featuring a typically great vocal and some genuine Presley low-down blues licks. If there was room back in the day, this could gone into the Top 20. "Santa Bring My Baby Back To Me" is a nicely syncopated rocker, a soft vocal over a hard beat. It works. The vocal approach is reminiscent ... Read More:

I agree with all the other reviews on the album , well nearly all . As my title says , why for Gods sake did H.Hancock and co put this has been in on what is a good listening album - but Leonard "let me open a vein to" Cohen on a Jazz album !!???? He can't sing - never could , never will , and the only reason that I can think of why he's on this album is because he's from Canada . The track is not "interesting" it's bloody awful and the producers should hang thier heads in shame .

Wow, not a single reviewer rates it less than five stars.
As good as they may be, later albums sound contrived in comparison.
It's just fresher more 'alive' than his other stuff.
If you don't already have this, don't hesitate.
