I bought this album because I really like the track 'Mr Brightside' which is excellent and easily the best thing on the album. Some of the others are ok but I couldn't listen to this from start to finish as it would annoy me intensely. The reason I'm not that fond of it is because I often struggle to see a lot in mainstream pop music generally - it all seems to have either been done before or just doesn't mean anything to me I'm afraid! I appreciate that the band have been immensely successful and I would imagine that if you saw them live it would be a great performance. Not really my kind of thing on a CD though.

I can respect Robert Plant for his work with Led Zeppelin (nearly 40 years ago) and Alison Krauss is a major talent with the Union Station but this just does not work. The production by T Bone Burnett is good but the material is poor and boring. It neither one thing (Rock) nor another (Country/Bluegrass). Having read the reviews beforehand I borrowed this CD from my library prepared for a probable disappointment and it certainly lived up to that.

I have this CD on constant repeat! The music is so varied but holds your attention every step of the way. Bocelli's voice is one you just have to fall in love with. His "Romanza" is 1 of my favourites but "Vivo Per Lei" has me hooked also. GET THIS CD!!!!!!

Much of the time bands who have gone into hibernation return with albums which are mere shadows of their previous work. This album is the complete opposite and successfully captures the eerie tones which occupy many of their best songs. I simply cannot pick a favourite from an album which oozes style.

The album is fine, nothing wrong there, it's just the tagged on second disc. It should have been released as a stand alone, allowed to stand and fight it's own corner, win it's own battles, as it is it's just a cheap marketing gimmick to flog a few extra copies of the lp, come of them to fans who've already shelled out their hard earned already. Glasvegas - doing it for the man.

I found this on play.com reviews which i think sums it all up
"It is pretty good, but that's not what's important. What really matters is:
1 It's for Children in Need
2. Surely, anything that might prevent another reality TV show song from being Christmas number one has to be a good thing.
So just order it, okay? And if you can bear (as in Pudsey!) to wait, order it during the week commencing 15 December, so that the purchase counts towards the charts for Christmas week."
The `smooth' title has been often used, but this is an inspirational choice of music, for its variety of relaxing tunes and a great line up of soloists including Nicola Benedetti, Bryn Terfel, Aled Jones, Julian Lloyd Webber, Renée Fleming, Lisa Gerrard, Vladimir Ashkenazy.
The orchestras include The Royal Philharmonic, London Symphony Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, City of Prague Philharmonic,
The conductors are Herbert von Karajan, Daniel Barenboim, John Eliot Gardiner and more.

This could be any reasonably competent male voice choir. I WAS VERY DIASAPPOINTED WITH IT. It did not have the depth and resonance and passion of a 'proper' Welsh male voice choir like Treorchy.
It seems like a sanitised version.
Nowhere near good enough!!!
