This is a really great selection of songs and even though most appear all too frequently on numerous compilations celebrating this period, the album would still normally rate five stars. However, I am surprised that none of the previous reviewers point out that not all the recordings are the originals as stated but inferior re-recordings that lack the nostalgia of the originals, e.g. Only Sixteeen by Craig Douglas, Wonderful Land by the Shadows and Pat Boone's Love Letters In The Sand. This really lets it down and there really can be no excuse for this from a label of the pedigree.

High School Musical is being talked about by teenager's everywhere, so I was determined to see what it was like. I asked someone I knew (who is obsessed with it) If I could borrow their copy of the soundtrack - And now I wish I hadn't. For staters the actual music is just over-used up beat dance tracks. With some weak mordern R and B thrown in. The things kicks of with a song entitled "Start of Something New". The song is merely just a badly written, horribly sang pop song. The vocals are very poor, there are signs of lack of emotion (in all the tracks). The second one, which is more of an R and B tune, is well irritating. Hung in there with the first. However,this album has no artistic merit whatsover!! The worst thing any adult could do is take this in their car on a long journey - Be warned!!

All we know is, this is yet another quite solid grab bag of tunes - blessed and sanctified by the presence of the Stig, but you're not sure whether he can actually hear in these frequencies. There are quite a few recent tunes you'll know from heavy airplay and (over)use in ads ("Monster", "That's Not My Name", "Have A Nice Day") a few retro classics thrown in for the ironed-jeans brigade ("Raspberry Beret", "Logical") and a few odd curveballs to try and look hip and down with the kids ("Propane Nightmares").

If you twisted this jumble of music through a dimensional wringer and made it solid and, let's say, a car, it'd look like a Gumpert - a car that looks like it was made ... Read More:

With The Now series you know what you are going to get, a collection of great and not so great pop tunes which have graced the charts in the last 2 to 3 months. Now 70 is a collection 43 tunes which have done exactly that. Can you have a favourite yes, are you going to like everything probably not but pop fans can buy knowing that this is going to offer variety and 10 ten tunes for every occasion.

This album is a great surprise. I didn't know what to expect when i bought it. I have the arctic monkeys albums and I like them, however I find them a little too much after a while, each song sounds similar, where as this album is full of great tracks which are written well and the production is, well wow. It has a big sound to it what with the orchestra and that. Each track has the feel that it can be released as a single and thats the mark of a great album. Most definitely the best album I have listened to for a good 10 years!

I bought this CD and the other Strictly CD with Bruce Forsyth at the same time and they are both incredible. The songs on this CD instantly remind you of all your favourite dances. They are well sung and at the right tempo for the dances. A must for your collection if you are a Strictly fan.
