Being an avid jazz fan and a lover of Bach's music I picked album up as a taster and am glad I did! As all tracks are superb to single one out for praise is hard but Toccata and Fugue is breath-taking.

I love Herb Alpert. The best known stuff on this album are the likes of the superlatively bouncy Spanish Flea, the sublime A Taste of Honey, the energetic Tijuana Taxi, Tetris theme Zorba the Greek and of course the theme to the original Casino Royale (the one with David Niven) which is so clever it hurts. But there's nothing on this album that doesn't delight.
Mostly it's instrumental, brass band work and very good brass it is. Like a Mariachi band. It's jolly and fun, and it gets me in a good mood and that makes it pretty fab stuff.

This is one of those rare albums that ticks a wide range of boxes almost perfectly. It's groovy enough to dance to, varied enough to listen, mellow enough to have on in the background to and detailed enough to withstand repeated listening. I keep coming back to this CD, and 8 years since its release, it still sounds fresh. It has to be in my top 5. Buy it now!

Generally very COOL mix of funky, jazzy, bossa-nova-ish, X-mas songs. Makes for a great excuse to jump around and shake your stuff - go on burn those mince pies!!!!

If your coming to this album with The Walker Brothers Or Scott's early solo music ringing in your ears, forget them! This is the other side of the coin. Tilt is experimental and very very avant garde. Its also quite chilling. Sit in darkness on your own listening to this album and I deify you not to be half scared to death!

In all honesty these have to be some of the most moving pieces I have ever listened to.As described in the title Charlie is among family and friends and the entire album resonates with that atmosphere. You can easily tell that everyone feels very much "at home" and there is an obvious lack of competing for first place. Bruce Hornsby on piano and Pat Metheny's measured acoustic guitar playing are absorbing. The Sally Gardens track almost reduced me to tears.Simply beautiful. I'm still recovering. Thanks Charlie.

The concept of travelling the world and creating an album based on various cultures is always going to be a tough thing to complete. All I can say is that Nitin Sawhney has pulled off this mountain of a project with breathtaking results.
The 15 tracks of 'Prophesy' display a highly interesting and diverse body of work, from a man with a real passion to produce something amazing. From the uplifting opening 'sunset' Sawhney creates a wonderful soundscape through chilled out beats, guitar, Tabla drums and moving orchestral touches, it's an atmosphere followed equally by 'Nothing' string melodies conjure up amazing sci-fi vista's and rousing vocals create an ethereal world. Acquired dreams is an early highlight and takes the tone to a deeper ... Read More:

This is a distillation of an earlier 3-CD set from Avid, about which I wrote a rave review at the time. It's a fascinating compilation, which makes up a chronological journey through Al's recording career. If you were lucky enough to buy the earlier set then there's nothing here that wasn't issued earlier, but if you missed out then grab this now. It's the ideal introduction to the supreme singer, and excellent value for money.

This is Santana of emense, cross sectional, swathe across a timeless barrier of a music making Warrior.Disc One are all vocal tracks that some have been re-mixed and Disc Two are all intrumental tracks, which some have been remixed. Santana here have offered up some of their best known to least known tracks, which makes a refreshing change to *Best of, or greatest hits*
Seaming together a timless fabulous sound which takes into the world of the love of real music.
True fans, may argue that this album was a lost oppertunity to go further and acually re-mix all the tracks into an amazing, glourious testamant of change. But what i believe fans are searching for, is more of that haunting, spine-tingling, beautiful little guitar rifts, worked into so many of Carlos ... Read More:

Loving and giving, what else do we need? Louis Armstrong gives us his audience a lasting feeling of happiness spiced with a momentary disappointment now and then in the muddle we all find us in. What a Wonderful World! And his song is the best song of the last Century.
