This album was a revelation when I first heard it a couple of years after Cobain's death. For the most part I hadn't connected with Nirvana's grungier sound. The Unplugged format provides a sparse and paired back sound, releasing the raw power and passion of Cobain's voice. Favorite's are Something In the Way, Dumb, On a Plain and most especially the cover of the Meat Puppets Plateau. As others have mentioned the closing cover of Leadbelly's Where Did You Sleep Last Night is remarkable in its intensity.
Unlike many other live albums the post production has left all the chat and banter between Cobain and the band in the mix; this allows the listener to feel part of a very special concert. In conclusion you don't have to be a ... Read More:

Well, you just have to look at the track listing to see this is probably the best Christmas CD you're ever going to buy! Imagine having Heavy Metal Christmas songs playing when your friends and family drop around during the festive season. Honestly, this is the best Christmas CD I've heard, ever!
Lemmy, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Ronnie James Dio, Girlschool, Doro Pesch; and the list doesn't stop there. Go on and click, it's a corker!

I had the pleasure of seeing Neil Young live in Kent last weekend. It was great to see he is still on tremendous form after all these years. With a catalogue of about thirty albums it is difficult for newcomers to his work to know where to start their collection, but this compilation covers a lot of his best known music. In fact according to the man himself it was compiled according to sales of the songs, airplay and known download history which gives the track selection credibility.
The collection begins with three of Neil Youngs' key songs- two epics which demonstrate the remarkable craftsmanship behind his output (Down by the River and Cowgirl in the Sand) and the shorter, harder edged 'Cinnamon Girl', an instantly catchy number. These ... Read More:

While I agree that there may be more comprehensive Clash sets available (my personal favourite being 'The Story Of The Clash Volume 1') this release does exactly what it says on the tin. All the singles, though not in chronological order - unlike the previous 1991 version, combined with far improved artwork. And it is this that sold me on this CD.
The colourful booklet has been designed with care and features notes from the great and good on each track. Everybody from Pete Townsend to Danny Boyle and many inbetween, get to comment on their favourites and the impact these tracks had on them. Single sleeve artwork and illustrations adorn the liner notes together with some fine shots of the band. All in a slip-sleeved jewel case. And for once, no grammatical ... Read More:

The definitive Hendirx cd, brilliantly produced it ranges from low beat blues records such as 'voodoo chile' to upbeat rock records in 'crosstown traffic' to great covers in the form of 'all along the watchtower'.
The 'wah-wah' effect on 'voodoo child slight return' is ledgendary and will be remembered until the end of man.
The guitar playing on '1983...(A Merman I Should Turn To Be)' is brilliant and really suits the pysecdelic theme of the song.

GENRE: METALCORE / POST-HARDCORE
I really enjoyed listening to Bring Me The Horizon's debut album, Count Your Blessings, so I bought Suicide Season.
Instead of the constant screams and repetitive sound of Count Your Blessings, Suicide Season has more shouts (although screams can still be heard in most of the tracks), and each track is unique. There are some epic songs included - the best of which are The Sadness Will Never End (featuring drowning vocals by Sam Carter), and the title track, Suicide Season, which has hauntingly beautiful lyrics.
I highly recommend this to every metalcore fan out there - Bring Me The Horizon have released the album of the year for me, and hopefully you will think the same.

Those of you who still pay for your music, take heed: this may be the greatest bargain of your life. Rage Against The Machine is that rare thing, a perfect album, and features the right mixture of heaviness, mood, and sheer fury. Evil Empire is less immediately obvious, but with a little commitment you'll be greatly rewarded. The Battle Of Los Angeles is a totally accessible romp, with Rage at their most fun, with a few tracks of sonic exploration thrown in for good measure. At this price, you can't afford not to have these metal classics in your collection (unless of course, you literally can't afford to). 33 of the best songs you'll ever hear.

This was the first time I had heard the Libera group as I was sent the CD as a gift. To begin with I really didn't care for some of the music - remember I hadn't heard this style of choral singing before and it took a bit of getting used to, but I sat down on Saturday and listened right through and by the time it was finished I was hooked. I loved the setting of Bach's Air on a G String in particular, and then right at the end the performances of Blake's Little Lamb and the In Paradisum are exquisite. This is a very fine choir matching in quality the Westminster Cathedral choristers, and I really can't recommend the disk too highly.

I love this album! At first I thought the second cd was boring, but after having heard it a few more times I liked it more and more, and now I think I like the quiet one even better than the loud one. I love the melodies and the calm sound, it`s great!

I saw these guys at the Music Live Event at the NEC - they were on stage at about 3PM on a Sunday and still rocked! The front man is a real star and definitely emerging from the Darkness
