I listen to an expansive range of musical styles and ages, from "The Classics" right through to Metal. Now I'm not calling myself an expert in the field by any means, but you can usually get a gut feeling pretty quickly about the effort, imagination and skill put into any work - and this album, from the first listen - give you audio pleasure at every turn. It just oozes skillfull musicianship and beautifully crafted harmonies. The type of work that will always be considered a classic and will always be replayed by the listener over and over again. As for the opinions about Young's involvement etc - it really doesn't matter - CSN were already fantastic - adding in Y was simply a case of adding an extra ingredient of a similar style - and for ... Unless you have been living under a stone you will know that these guys are the hottest new stuff on the Rock scene. This album is a non-stop rollercoaster of catchy-as-feck tunes that make you wanna dance and sing your heart out, in a purely non-gay fashion of course ;)
So yes, this album is worth owning - without question. This version of the album of course offers that little bit more by the addition of a DVD showing a whole host of live vids from the most metal festival in the world - Wacken.

Coming back to this album after many years without hearing it, I'm struck by the complexity of the songs, the wit and emotion of the lyrics and the sheer quality of the musicianship. If anyone tries to tell you that The Who were overrated, play them this album.
Just from the opening song 'The Real Me', you hear the most extraordinary rhythm-section in rock as Moon and Entwistle lock in and syncopate more tightly and intensely than they ever had before, and it's right at the front of the mix! The slicing of Townshend's guitar and Daltrey's raw vocal almost feel like afterthoughts. But everyone is operating at the peak of their ability.
Personally, my favourite song is 'Sea and Sand'. The protagonist is Jimmy, the young ... Read More:

Having achieved moderate levels of success with their self-titled debut and Rated R, Queens Of The Stoneage finally hit the big leagues with their third album, Songs For The Deaf. The last album featuring the revolving door policy of old, the QOTSA group on this album features Josh Homme, Nick Oliveri, ex-Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan and most notably, with the Foo Fighters in disarray, Dave Grohl making a welcome return to drums.
Songs For The Deaf finds Homme streamlining the sexy yet doom-laden groove of the previous two albums into something almost perfect. Mixed as a shift between radio stations from song to song, Homme covers more styles here than ever before. Big hit 'No One Knows' is a straight-out pop song; 'Hangin' Tree' is ... Read More:

A few years ago I remember buying this and thinking it was a really good album and it is a very good album, it has great lyrics, good riffs, and great songs and that's all you need. My favourite songs are "Somewhere I Belong", "Faint", "Figure .09", "Breaking The Habit" & Numb". I don't mind what genre they are in they are a good band (if you forget about there new album), they are much better then Korn & Limp Bizkit and have much more talent, but still it was obviously never gonna be as good as Megadeth's So Far So Good So What! or Black Sabbath self titled debut but those are totally different genres and my own opinion. So overall this is an excellent album recommended for Linkin Park fans and fans of rap metal.

Even after 18 months from its original release I still find myself listening to this album on my iPod. And now they've released it with a bonus disc and DVD which are both amazing. I'm not even joking when I bought it again just to get the bonus stuff. Plus the new artwork is killer.
They were incredible with Slipknot this week and I sure as hell can't wait to see them again with Metallica next year.

I bought this album for 2 reasons. 1) because I'd heard a lot of talk about Fall Out Boy and heard none of their music, and I wanted to see what the fuss was about and 2) the main reason, the CD was only £2.99 at the time. So I bought it, kind of expecting to be half interested. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a catchy, original and totally fun album. To be honest, I took one look at the song titles and thought, what the heck? Right now I'm not even sure how half of them relate to the tunes in question - all I know is that I love this album, and I can't stop listening to it.
Stand out tracks are definitely, in order of stand-out-ness, Sugar, We're Goin' Down, A Little Less Sixteen Candles, Champagne for my Real Friends, 7 Minutes in Heaven, and Nobody ... Read More:

Being a rock guitar freak of two decades' standing, it is with embarrassment that I confess to only having heard this record for the first time in my 39th year.
Clearly I went to the wrong school and hung out with the wrong, self conscious types, and stupidly we looked askance at this bogan rock. More fool us.
What a remarkable, single minded, self-assured, exuberant record this is, and what a master stroke for a bunch of scot-inflected teenaged aussies to have settled on such a perceptively observed formula and executed on it so flawlessly (and stuck with it for the thirty years since!). All of rock's evolved extravagant frippery is discarded or reduced down to its elements. The drums mark out a thumping 4/4 on-beat; stereo guitars crank out a primordial ... Read More:

If I had to burn my rock CD collection but were aloud to keep a handful, I know that Meatloaf's "Bat Out Of Hell" would be one of albums that i'd save straight away.
This album is just pure genius and one cannon't fail to be surprised when knowing that it's still a bestseller even today, three decades after it was first released.
Awesome songs, awesome album, do yourself a favour and buy it!
