I wish I could start by giving this album more stars. As far as a Jimi Hendrix 'best of' goes, you can't do much better than this. One disc of his best known tracks and another of live and rarer music. The two sides to Jimi's music, the polished, yet still powerfully raw studio work and the soaring, imaginative and soul lifting live work. Hendrix was innovative and unique in his time and listening to his music you are struck again and again by the fact that he is still unsurpassed. His sound has been emulated (often poorly) but never bettered. 'All along the watchtower' and 'Voodoo Chile' start with full force and slap you in the face, where tracks like 'Angel' and 'Little Wing' lull you into his psychedelic, magical patchwork. His guitar ... Read More:

Blink 182 were one of the first bands i got into because of my brothers. It was these sort of bands like, Blink, The Offspring, Green Day and Sum 41 that got me into the "rock" side of music when i was about 7 or 8ish. I'm now more into Punk Punk, instead of pop punk. But i cant slate this because it was my gateway band and i do still listen to these occasionaly.
OK so its pop-punk, but who cares? It sounds good, their pretty darn good musicians aswell!

Doesn't matter how many 'best ofs' you buy, you still need to hear Queen and Queen II to understand what they were like when some of us were lucky enough to see them perform in university music venues before they became a supergroup. I loved this album then and I love it now. You don't need a video of their amazing stage performances to enjoy it just as music. Why haven't you bought it yet??

Yes, The Fray do sound very much like others of their genre but this isn't a bad thing if, like me, you're a fan of this sort of music anyway. I bought the album on the strength of the single How To Save A Life and the reviews already posted here. I am glad I did.
The music is punchy and catchy with some really profound lyrics which have been well thought out. Over My Head, How To Save A Life, All At Once, Look After You and Dead Wrong are my personal favourites.

Ordered this directly from the distributor (hence why I have it before the UK release date), and it truly is a brilliant set to have. The artwork is top-notch (no surprise, coming from artist Jhonen Vasquez), it includes all of the art he did for the album (including the cover of the deluxe version) in high resolution quality and is worth buying just for this reason alone.
The album itself is pretty good, though no-where near as good as YRTA, FGWSSS or Tight, but passable, despite a few throwaway tracks. The overall arrangement seems a lot better as well, with a reworked track listing spread across two Vinyl disks.
The main complaint I have is how, unfortunately the vinyl is treated as a second-hand product by the producers of the set, ... Read More:

Don't take drugs. Let Hawkwind take them for you. This was definitely the turning point. Riffs, chants, sounds, Space lyrics and in the middle of it all is the madness of 'Adjust Me'. Including the fan fave 'Master of the Universe' plus bonus single 'Silver Machine' and B-side '7 by 7' this could be all you need to begin your Hawkwind journey. Originally released in 1971, the Hawkwind had risen from the underground and were claiming ground on the surface. Fantastic!

This is honestly the one of the best albums I have ever purchased, and believe me I have many. Although I am a fan of genres such as Alt rock/soft rock, very few songs have actually been meaningful to me, in the sense that they have not touched my soul or left a huge impression on me. But every one of the songs in this album has meaning, and so many emotions conveyed through well thought-out lyrics. A raw, confessional album, One-X finds frontman Adam Gontier delving into a sense of utter loneliness that ironically comes from being constantly surrounded by other people. From listening to this album we can see that One-X is simultaneously the story of Gontier's personal destruction on the road, and a universal tale of feeling like an outsider.

This CD is the most boring amateur music I have heard in a long while. The cheesy and predictable melodies sound like a GCSE composition recorded by a school pupil. 10 minutes of listening and I wanted to tear my hair out! A definite miss.

Yes, it may be the case that Opeth are releasing a DVD of an album that I spent money on about a year ago. But you know what? I find myself not caring. With a band with such quality and incredible musicianship, I think it is worth it. The CD of The Roundhouse Tapes gave me a taster, got me licking my lis, and now the DVD is reminding me yet again how significant this band are, not only in the world of progressive metal, but music in general (though your average punter would never know it!) Having seen them live this week (the week I write this) on the Watershed Tour, I know how fantastic an Opeth show is.
I have Lamentations, and it was a great show. The Roundhouse Tapes takes it to the next level. I am most annoyed that I wasn't in that particular show as I'm sure it ... Read More:
