As a person new to the band and what they had done previously i thought the first 3 tracks absolutely rocked one of the best starts to an album i've heard.
Downside being that theres only so much full on singing you can take which lets the rest of the album down pity their was'nt more songs in the mould of hypnotize which is the only other song i really liked.

I have been listening to Mike Oldfield since Tubular Bells and own every single piece he has ever produced including all the singles (who remembers Guilty, William Tell Overture, Froggy went a Courting?) Over the years Mike has reached musical brilliance but has sometimes, I think in an effort to be different, slightly missed the mark. (I found Guitars a bit disappointing)Although I keep in mind what Tolkien said about his book, in that what altogether was loved by some readers was sometimes hated by others. So it is also for Mike - but this is one of his finest pieces. As this is a greatest hits album I knew what I was getting before I bought it so obviously there was no disappointment there. The songs that are on it are great, some of my favourites.
But personally there are so many more songs that I would have liked to be on there. I don't know if the answer is a double album or replacing some of the songs on this album.
It's still a good album though.

I think that ZZ Top are a very good band and they remain one of my favorite bands of all-time. this is one great collection and they made great blues music in the 1970s and the 1980s. here are my comments about most of the songs. GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING this is a really great song and is my 2nd favorite song on the entire cd. SHARP DRESSED MAN this is pretty great too, but probably my 5th favorite. ROUGH BOY is a ballad that is too slow and too sad for me. TUSH is an excellent blues rocker remains one of my 5 favorites on this album. MY HEAD'S IN MISSISSPII is a blues rocker one of my favorites, PEARL NECKLACE not my fave, IM BAD IM NATHIONWIDE this is pretty good although remains as a 10th favorite or something. Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap

I first heard this album back in the summer of 1982 and it sounds as good now as it did then. I was already familiar with For Those About to Rock (We Salute You) and I'd heard bits of Highway to Hell and Back in Black but this was what converted me. The songs on this album are infantile, puerile, barely adolescent... and absolutely brilliant.

From the crash-bang-thump intro to the swaggering title track to the fade out at the end of the distinctly sleazy and tasteless Squealer this is pure, unbridled rock'n'roll joy. There are not many discs, games, anything on here with 100+ (mainly positive) reviews so as a metal fan I thought this would be worth a listen. What a waste of money!
I won't argue with anyone about whether or not these guys can play as they undoubtedly can but there is more to it than simply playing as fast as possible. I struggled to find any hooks to the songs and it all just seemed to blend into one. I will stick with Megadeth I think, who almost always show how to put superb melody, harmony and structure into the racket that is speed metal.

for all you young metal fans , who ever wondered, "where did metal come from, when did it begin" well you are now looking at the very first album of heavy metal, some people will tell you, that metal was made by led zepplin, the kinks, jimmy hendrix or other mere hard rock bands of teh 60's but they are wrong. go ahead, listen to a whole lotta love, then listen to the track black sabbath on this cd, and see the difference. this is were metal started, if you dont believe this review then see teh documentary "heavy, teh story of metal"

buy this if you love metal, the production is dated but teh music is timeless

The highly anticipated follow-up to A Night At The Opera arrived on the shelves in late '76, heralded by the hit Somebody to Love. Queen were flying at the time, and they knew it. After their mega-successful year, they decided to play it safe, much like The Works, and basically did a rehash of their best bits!
The production is completely unrestrained - having lost Roy Thomas Baker to bigger things in the USA, the vocal and guitar overdubs are so over the top - the render themselves not only unimpressive, but pointless and swamping otherwise decent songs into a mire of flash and clever-clever studio technique.

Maximum points tho for Tie Your Mother Down and Teo Torriate - well done Dr May!

The Live album Skin and Bones is a brilliant and varied album from the Foos. Feauturing classics such as 'Times like these' and 'best of you' peformed live by Dave Grohl and co. - a must-have for Foo fighters fans - the lyrical performances are strong and emotive, even though you're not witnessing it live, the recording is excellent. Grohl is stripped to his acoustic core, in this brilliant and inspiring live album, truly amazing!
