The second album from Alter Bridge had a very, very hard task... follow up 'One Day Remains'. How many bands falter and fail to even match their debut offering? These guys don't. Simple as that.
This may be more gritty than ODR but that don't mean they compromise the melody or quality of song. I'll admit it took 2 or 3 plays to appreciate some tracks, but that's because these guys have progressed.
Where as 'ODR' is instantly etched into your mind with its catchy choruses and odd meaty riff, this album grabs you by the throat with tracks 'Come To Life' and 'White Knuckles'; comforts you with 'Brand New Start' and 'Before Tomorrow Comes'; melts you with 'Watch Over You' and just simply catches your breath with 'Blackbird'. ... I bought this album after "The Black Parade", and for anyone only just starting to realise the brilliance of MCR's music, I think that's the best way to go.It took me a while to get used to The Parade, but I then (roughly)knew what to expect from "Three cheers for sweet revenge".
Three cheers is definitely darker than the Parade, but after hearing their third album you'll be used to darkness and anger. The lyrics in most of the songs are very aggressive, but I guess that's what pulls you in. My favorite tracks are "Helena", "Give 'em hell, Kid", "To the end", "Jetset life is gonna kill you" "Thank you for the Venom" and "I'm not Okay (I promise)". "You know, you've got something in your eye..." If you've seen the video for "I'm not Okay (I promise)", ... Read More:

I like a variety of music from country through to thrash metal. Enjoy listening to Roy Harper and Bob Dylan so I thought I would give Neil Young a try. Knew nothing about this album before I bought it but the gravely, drawn, folk/rock melodies are simply excellent. I definetly will be purchasing more.

There are a lot of reviews on this album, time and time again Nevermind seems to stretch its fuzzy head and look over, all I can say is ,to me Nevermind has some good tracks and Ten has some brilliant. its impossible to even compare them with each other, a bit like saying Grand Funk Railroad ( early years ) were like the Mahavishnu orchestra. total difference Pearl Jam are a clever group of musicians who write play and express themselves perfectly, the Nevermind crew had a few catchy riffs.

'International superhits', (like most bands best of's), is probably the best place to start with Green Day if you're new to their music and want to hear more. You get a pretty good selection of their hits, as well as some more obscure stuff. At 21 tracks, this album has plenty to offer and I defy anyone to put on 'Basket Case' or 'When I Come Around' and not crack into a big grin. This album showcases what a good rock band should be, simple, loud and fun. You can't ask for much more than that. Well worth a try.

Shortly after his first album Young released a rather patchy album that's real claim to fame was the first appearance of Crazy Horse. The voice is more assured than on the opener but that takes away some of the quirkiness that made the opener sound fresher than a rather stodgy offering in which Young seems to be desperately trying to make a niche for himself.

A new decade, a new drummer, a new producer and a pretty damn good effort from AC/DC. Production-wise, The Razors Edge harks back to HTH, BIB and FTATR. Bruce Fairbairn adds polish to the proceedings without being too obtrusive and the songs, whilst not being all-time DC classics, crackle along nicely. Standouts include Moneytalks, Are You Ready and, of course, Thunderstruck - probably the one bona fide classic on the album.
My one criticism is directed at Chris Slade. Like Simon Wright, Slade is a perfectly good rock'n'roll drummer but he just doesn't quite fit into the AC/DC groove. He drives the songs rather than going with them. However this is less evident in the studio than on stage - I couldn't believe how fast he played some of the old Bon era material. His sound is ... you're too old - no excuses. This album makes Metallica sound average, dated and out of ideas. The Blister Exists is the best metal tune I've heard in at least a decade - buy it for that if nothing else. This CD is the sonic equivalent of an 18 wheeler crashing through your frontroom while you're eating your tea.

This is even better than the first soundtrack and i love every single song. Very pleased to see Bethany's Halo on here, that girl needs to release an album of her own soon. Other highlights are songs by Nada Surf, Jacks Mannequin and Fall Out Boy, who all have guest starred in One Tree Hill. My personal favourite would be recurring guest star Tyler Hiltons cover of 'Missing you', it is truly amazing and i am now a great fan of Tyler Hilton based purely on his efforts in this series as he isn't well known in the UK.
