Def Leppard outsold many band of the 1980s, and this compliation of their best hits proves why. Hits from the early years of recording, like "Photograph" and "Rock of Ages" are within the compilation, and are complimented with the hits from their biggest selling album, "Hysteria", like "Animal", and "Rocket". Included also are some songs from their albums in the mid 1990s, like "When Love And Hate Collide", which scored highly in the UK charts. Of course, their biggest hit, "Pour Some Sugar on Me" is the first track, so that will definately get any listener going.
The band itself produces absolutely brilliant music, and this album clarifies the imapct Def Leppard had on the music world. I would also call this a masterpiece.

Now here's a band that, during their previous incarnation, produced 2 very good albums (Pornograffiti and Three Sides To Every Story), 1 very naive album (Extreme) and 1 album that was really awful (Waiting For The Punchline)and was a pointer to what we have here, a very mixed up and confused offering. That said, the album contains four songs worthy of note (and hopefully a glimmer of hope for the future) in the form of STAR, RUN, KING OF THE LADIES and SLIDE. The rest of the material on show here is tired and uninspired - veritably, a band going through the motions - which is a damned shame because in Cherone and Bettencourt, we have two masters of vocals and guitar respectively. Van Halen recognised the former, taking him on after the "departure" ... Read More:

I bought this album after reading many good reviews about it. Many people have also told me that it is one of the defining albums of classic rock and helped to influence many bands, especially Thin Lizzy who expanded on the sound Wishbone Ash created. Anyway, time for a track run though:
Time Was - The longest song (9:42) opens the album with some nice clean guitar and peaceful vocal harmonies. Then the song begins to pick up with the introduction of some drums and bass guitar. It still makes you feel at peace though and is a very ncie song. It also contains a nice guitar solo. 7/10
Sometime World - This song begins with some nice vocals and some really tuneful acoustic guitar. Not long into the song, the classic Wishbone Ash guitar ... Read More:

This is such an awesome collection!
I have more or less every Clash album made, but this 2 disc CD is a great mix of some of their best work, and really represents why they are one of the greatest and most important bands ever formed.
The first disc is my personal favourite - opening with the stomping 'White Riot', this CD shows their early work...tracks such as 'Complete Control' and 'London's Burning' have heavy political views, but performed in such a furious rage that demands your attention. This is the band in their youth years - all the tracks are pure punk anthems, which I love!
Disc Two starts off with their best work - a mixture of genres such as reggae and rock are clearly heard in 'London Calling' and 'Rudy Can't Fail', but particularly in ... Read More:

Having no prior experience of A7X, I bought this album on the strength of the single, "Almost Easy" and I wasn't disappointed. It is full of great tracks with strong, aggressive melodies, inventive guitar work and the production is crisp and clear. I think the crital comparisons with previous albums are very unfair. I subsequently bought Waking the Fallen on the strength of the A7X brand and I immediately saw the huge progression that the band has made. M. Shadows learned to sing somewhere between these records and all that silly screaming so beloved of 14 year old boys has stopped. Yes, the band has gone a lot more commercial and stadium orientated but if they hadn't, I would never have heard of them. This is one to play in the car, nice and loud. Enjoy it for what it is.

The Colour And The Shape: 10th Anniversary Edition
This album never ages. It sounds as good today as it did when it was first released. My favourite Foos album. Absolutely brilliant.

Well, there's one thing that you can never fault with DragonForce - they are one of the, if not the most, reliably consistent bands around today. You pick any of their songs and you instantly know that it's DragonForce. Whether it's the soaring vocals of ZP Theart, the intense drumming of Dave Mackintosh or, of course, the ridiculously complex guitar work of Herman Li and Sam Totman, they just produce an incredible, power metal sound that is parallel to none.
And this album, too, is not one to let you down. The opening track, "Heroes of Our Time" delivers in all areas, the predictably upbeat lyrics; bouncing, happy melodies and, of course, the flawless, intricate and lengthy guitar solo, which lasts for a full one minute and thirty seconds. The song ends on a twinkling ... Read More:

Alice Cooper, arguably one of the greatest rock icons the world has ever seen.
As mentioned before Alice isnt as commercial as he was in the 70's and 80's with the latest commercial record Trash coming from the early 90's.
However Along Came a Spider is full of hits that are going to be brought to life (unlike his victims) in his theatrical concert Along Came a Spider next year.
Its amazing how long the Coop has been going and he can still produce records that would put todays modern era of bands to shame.
Whether you like your newer Brutal Plant, Dragontown Coop you will enjoy the hard hitting tracks of Vengeance is Mine, Catch Me If You Can, The One That Got Away and I am the Spider or whether your a fan of his old classic Schools Out, Love it to Death Cooper you ... Read More:

She'd taped a cool new song off the radio, a friend told me some 30 years ago; she'd play it for me when I'd come to her place after school.
The song was "Hotel California," and my perception of music changed then and there, once and for all. I didn't even really understand the lyrics -- I had barely begun to learn English, and apart from everything else I sure as hell didn't know what "colitas" meant. But understanding all the song's words wasn't necessary. From the first chords played by Felder and Walsh, this song was different from anything I had ever heard before. The layers of electric guitar riffs alternating with and ornamenting Don Henley's vocals, soaring in the chorus and culminating in a moving and evocative duet, touched a spot deep inside me that required no further ...
