In the same way that one becomes colder the further away from the sun travel, the quality of MJs CDs/LPs diminished the further away he departed from his best CD Off the Wall. As this is the CD after the great 1979 release, he still has something in his favor. By & large he was still blessed to be working with Quincy Jones & the under valued Rod Templeton. At this time he wasn't chasing the title of King of Pop, or following the latest trends. He was also using live instruments ( the lack of which, I feel, diluted his future CDs) Add to this base, the writing skills of Toto, the guitar skills of Eddie Van Halen, the vocal 'rap' of Vincent Price, and you have all the ingredients of a major, major hit.

As a seasoned (60 year old) musicologist I can honestly say that Anastacia is just amazing. Such power, beautifully controlled and with a depth that is so often missing in current chart artists. I can listen to her all day and then some - and I am sooo hard to please, believe me!! Very few artists have the widespread appeal that thsi lady does. This selection has something for everyone, its definitely one that I will listen to over and over. Jump in and have some fun!!

I fancied returning to my youth (and im only 19!) and brought Take That greatest Hits. Take That were HUGE when i was younger and i wasn't disapointed when i recived this album as it had all the big hits i could remember. "Everything Changes", "Relight My Fire" and "Sure" all features on this record plus many many more. I'd recomend it to any true take that fan for a night of a good old boogie!

Well, I will not deny that this album interested me when I first heard 'Alice Practice' at a mates house. A great song, edgy and yet very emotional, quite a punch in the stomach! It seemed finally a band was doing something to break down the barriers between pop and electronica.

Three listenings to the album have left me somewhat confused, though I like the riffs and melodies (and can even stand the video game sounds that make them up) I found that the woman made the whole thing a bit too ridiculous at times. Her voice too often competes with the noise from the DJ, in a bad way, so that you can hardly ever understand what she is saying. Grace Jones relativley short music career never really hit the heights of success it often deserved. Her first three disco albums, PORTFOLIO (1977), FAME (1978) and MUSE (1979) were fairly forgetable although they did spawn at least one memroable track per album - all of which make there way onto this definitive compilation of Grace Jones work. LA VIE EN ROSE, I NEED A MAN and DO OR DIE had that early Grace Jones disco sound which was quickly abandoned in 1980 prior to the release of one of her very best albums, WARM LEATHERETTE, which succesfully combined the sounds of New Wave, reggae, rock and funk. One thing is for sure that when you buy a Beck album, you never really know what to expect, such is the multi-faceted nature of the artist, and you definitely have to approach most of his albums with an open mind. If 'Modern Guilt' could be compared with any of his previous albums, then many of the songs are closest to the melodic melancholy of 'Sea Change', but with added beats, giving this release a fresh, original sound but with all the characteristics of what makes Beck's music so aurally appealing. Danger Mouse's production matches musical influences often steeped in the late 60's and early 70's with up-front, contemporary percussion, giving much of the album a split-personality sense of laid-back, detached urgency - and it is certainly an interesting combination. ... Michael Jackson is THE ultimate performer. Regardless of how you see him as a person, he is an electrical force to be reckoned with in his work. That man can MOVE!! No one can move like him, his voice is immediately recognisable, his style is stupendous. He has given us some memorable music and dance, and I for one am grateful for that. Who could ever forget Thriller, Billie Jean, and my own personal favourite, Man in the Mirror? This album contains tracks that can be found on previous works, but all together on one album? Yes please!! Its the ultimate album from the ultimate performer, and lets give him the credit he deserves for that. No one performs like Michael Jackson., and I'd still pay to see him. I've heard this record for the first time today,(been on another planet!) and the first thing that struck me about it was how the vocal is so similar to my favourite female singer, the little known (in this country}, HEATHER NOVA. I'm not a fan of much electronic music, and I was particularly irritated by the 'vinyl scratching' that appears in several of the songs, however mainly because of the vocal and the songs that don't involve the scratch I know i'm going to really like this album. If you dont know HEATHER NOVA, do me (and yourself)a favour and go have a listen. If you love Beth Gibbons vocal with 'trip hop' music, you will be blown away by HEATHER NOVA with a live band. I suggest 'oyster' as the first album to try, or 'storm' if you prefer a more mellow sound.

PROVIDING THIS GETS THE AIRPLAY THEN THIS SHOULD BE A HUGE HIT, IM STILL WAITING FOR MY VINYL I ORDERED, BY DOWNLOAD I HEARD PAPER PLANES AND LIKED IT THE OTHER SONGS ARE OF THE SAME QUALITY, I CAN SEE ALL THE 13 YEAR OLD GIRLS SINGING ALONG TO THIS, AND I WAS BOPING TO IT TOO.
