This is one of the only electronica albums I have bought and enjoyed from beginning to end, it just doesn't let up. Soulwax are masters of the remix, highlights for me are Klaxon's Gravity's Rainbow, Justice's Phantom Pt.II and Kylie Minogue's Can't Get You Out Of My Head... but all of them are a stroke of genius.
If you want something to lift a party, get this you won't be disappointed!

If we look at offensiveness on a scale of say, 10 for the Holocaust, dropping to maybe a 7 or 8 for child abuse and poverty respectively, with perhaps the collected works of Scouting For Girls, the Script and James Blunt registering at a respectable 1, then the answer to the posited question is a resounding NO. How could something so painstakingly self-conscious and contrived as this be deemed offensive by anyone?
If you'll indulge me a second, here's a little quote from Mariah Carey from a few years back:
"God, there so much I still want to do. Sometimes I feel like all this money is just holding me back from what's really important, the children. When I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I ... Read More:

Fabulous! I've not heard much of her lately but then I played the CD,s. I cannot think of a bad track. I find that I keep repeat playing most of the tracks I find it hard to move on. What is apparent throughout is the great playing from the band. Its great value and one that is being exclusively played in my car.

What can I say? Very R&B and VERY different from her latter three albums.
I knew this album was going to be R&By but it was NOTHING like I imagined it to be. I thought it was going to be more like Missundaztood.
That said, I'm an R&B fan and this album on the whole is great.
The only reviewers who have rated it badly either aren't R&B fans (which doesn't help) or are hearing this off the back of Missundaztood, Try This or I'm Not Dead. The latter and the former are my favourite Pink albums, but this one has to come a close third.
Highlights for me are the kick-ass, typical Pink song Most Girls, Can't Take Me Home, which is a cross between TLC and... hmm, There You Go, lmao which I must say again sounds VERY like TLC in the instrumental ... Read More:
If you like "Supernature", "Black Cherry", and "Seventh Tree", have "Felt Montain". Obviously it's the weakest out of the 4, though really relaxing and entres you into a total state of calm.

I am not one to use the word 'MASTERPIECE' freely. This is because these days, i feel most people overuse the word 'masterpiece' and i find this to be rather irritating. You know what i mean? Too many albums, films, etc are refered to as masterpieces when they are just ok or good. This album, however is NOT ok or good. It IS a masterpiece.
Firstly, let me say, i am a rock fan. I was brought up on Heavy metal and punk. I'd lived in complete ignorence of Stevie Wonder until a friend recommended this album to me. At first, as you can probably guess, i was hesitant. Its not rock, i thought, why would i like it? Eventually i yielded and got a copy, expecting to give away after i'd heard it once. How wrong i was. This album is a genuine work of genius. Stevie pours his ... Read More:

This is a top ska collection, it contains plenty of classics including a few from the godfathers of SKA music, The Specials. Defenite stand out tracks are Rat Race, Rudy, a message to you and Ghosttown. Its cheap and you get over 50 tracks to chose from, there has to be some you like in that lot!

What an excellent idea to create a northern soul "mecca" around the clubs which gave it birth!. All of these hallowed names now so familiar to those who loved the music and the scene and which are in no small way totally responsible for its success both then and again now.
Born in 1963 I was not considered old enough to go to the all dayers and all nighters of that time. Therefore back then I loved the music but only heard a tiny portion of it and never had the honour of entering the sacred halls themselves; Blackpool Mecca, The Torch, The Twisted Wheel and Wigan Casino. Thanks to Richard Sterling however I have enjoyed the revival and added extensively to my northern soul knowledge and collection. Now with these 4 CD's, this being the first, a further whole cornocopia ... Read More:
The album is an appropiate length, not too long and too short.
Considering it's a rectro feel album this has the great mix of milleninums new music and the old sound of 60's Motown, Doo wop, Sam Cooke and others all wrapped up into this.
In my opinion this album is better then Amy Winehouses Back to Black, it won't sell the units, but this album is heartfelt and Raphael Saadiq has nailed the feel, and essence of this music.
It is not contrived either, which for along time alot of music trying to replicate this has become i.e Duffy.
If you are into Motown msuic or soul as a general genre, i would highly recommend this album as their is not ... Read More:
