This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.
There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.
The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.
It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.
This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.

i would love to be able to comment on the quality of this cd, but as it has still not arrived i can't, so i have given it 5 stars anyway to maintain the average rating.
i ordered this item on the 10th of November for my dad's birthday on the 26th of november - more than 2 weeks later, despite a despatch date of 6-9 days, and a hefty shipping cost, it never arrived.
i am now writing this on the 5th december, with the item still not being sent out, nor any reason or explanation as to why not. i am almost certain that it will still not have been despatched in time for christmas, and probably not even november next year.
my girlfriend ordered 3 things for christmas gifts a week or so later, only one of these has been ... Read More:

When Q magazine asked Noel gallager what band he was looking out for at T in the park years ago he said, "kings of leon, They are my new favourite band". I imediately bought the album when it came out (alongside the darkness's permission to land....cough) He wasn't wrong. Youth and young manhood was blindingly brilliant.
Lyiricaly the songs are brilliantly smutty yet you really have to be looking for the sexual reference. Thats really what the album is about. Being young and desperate to have it off with ladies.
But musicaly "Molly's chamber, wasted time and Holy roller novacaine" are simpy outstanding! There is not a bad song on this album I know people say that a lot but i can't stress this enough its faultless. The muffled overexited ... Read More:

Ry Cooder is one of the most wonderful guitarists on the planet.Anyone looking to play guitar should listen to him, because when it comes to tone,to texture and beautiful playing he's among the very best there is.The rave over Stevie Ray's,Hendrix,et all as great as they are no question of that RC is a master of his art. This anthology has a wonderful range of varying styles from a whole range of his albums right upto his 2008 release I Flathead, and it's all fabulous stuff,no fillers here at all.listen to the texture in his film scores like Paris Texas,or his take on Johnny Cash's Get Rhythm to the wonderful unreleased track Let's Get Together. You get 34 tracks for your money, all put together by his son Joachim, plus notes by the man himself. This is surely among the best ... I'm a huge fan of Lucinda and after seeing her in tremendous form at the glasgow barrowlands I went out and got my hands on as much stuff of hers as I could.
I must admit I'm a bit disappointed with this cd - maybe it will grow on me but there seem to be few powerful songs here.
It's almost as though it has been thrown together to meet contractual obligations.

Has much has i Like Dolly Parton, I do wonder how many more times are her managers going to release her Greatest Hits & Best Of Albums.
I think she should come back and do something New!!
I brought Dolly Partons Greatest Hits back in 1999 The Album i have is a 2x Disc version With the same songs and same listings in the exact same track listing order has these 2 seperate Albums!! Why it has been Re-released has two seperate Volumes is beyond me, Especially when the version i have is still avalible to buy.
I have given this a 4 Star if it was a New greatest hits it would have got a 5 Star, However it isn't. And plus it's not Dolly's thought i blame the record company!!! :-)

Believe me, it's usually the other way round. Usually I have nothing but praise for the man and his show that introduce me to so many fantastic artists. But in the case of this album, seeing Martha Wainwright perform on that show before purchasing `I Know You're Married, but I've Got Feelings Too' has ruined me, because if I hadn't seen her perform live I would have been blissfully unaware that in the right form this collection of songs presents an absolutely incredible portrait of a uniquely charismatic singer/song-writer. But not when they're delivered with decidedly less passion on an over-produced album that is not a proper showcase for these beautifully written songs and the tortured/passionate voice that always performs to perfect spine-tingling effect in the right setting. ... Taylor Swift's Fearless debuts at No. 1 on Pop & Country Charts
Taylor Swift owns the charts this week. Her sophomore release Fearless debuts at No. 1, with 592,304 copies sold. This is enough to earn her a No. 1 at the Billboard Top 200 albums as well. This is the largest opening U.S. sales week for a female artist in all genres of music, and puts her at No. 4 behind Lil Wayne, AC/DC and Coldplay for the biggest debut this year. Lastly, her single "Love Story" holds the No. 1 spot on the Country Singles charts for a second week.

If the Grim Reaper traded in his scythe and recorded an album of melancholic country guitar music this, one imagines, is what it would sound like. Johnny Cash's rich Fire N' Brimstone tones haven't diminished one bit despite his advancing years, but listen carefully and we now find it tinged with something soft and imperceptibly fragile. Something almost like regret (or relief) of a life lived through.
Cash is one of those rare artists that can take a song, any song, and turn it utterly on its head, allowing the dark stuff of life to ooze out and re-contextualize it in ways you'd never even considered. Just listen to his version of We'll Meet Again. It belongs right at the end of Dr Strangelove when all the nukes are going off and the whole world has gone to heck. There's something ... Read More:
