I had never heard this piece before I bought this for my wife who has sung in it and enjoys the spirituals in it. The performance - one of Sir Colin's specialitie - does have real electricity and has the excitement of a live occasion. The soprano has some cloudy moments but also produces some ravishing high notes. Every one else on form. A good introduction to this piece at bargain price from LSO Live

The late Sir Michael Tippett was a lifelong pacifist who served a brief sentence during World War II as a conscientious objector. He wrote 'A Child of Our Time' early in WW II and he wrote the text for it himself after T. S. Eliot, whom he had asked to supply the libretto, told him that Tippett's own outline was sufficient to the task. The narrative of the cantata is about a Polish boy living with relatives in France after his parents had been killed by the Nazis who himself then shot and killed a German official in 1938. He was imprisoned by the French government but that apparently wasn't punishment enough; in reprisal for the act the Nazis carried out the horrific 'Kristallnacht.' I have just bought this for the second time (1st one got mutilated!). Normally I cannot stand the tweenies but this CD is really quite good, and much better than some of the rubbish childrens music you can buy. It even manages to get both my kids away from the telly and up and dancing together without any arguments!

Normally I cannot stand the tweenies but this CD is really quite good, and much better than some of the rubbish childrens music you can buy. It even manages to get both my kids away from the telly and up and dancing together without any arguments!

I have seen some episodes of "the saddle club", all are just super! If you have enjoyed the book series of Bonnie Bryant, you will enjoy the series as much as the books. The actors are very good and the stories are great! Though I think "horse-lovers" enjoy them more than someone that is not interested in horses. If I would decide what "the saddle club" is of sort of serie, I would say a horsy comedy!

The CD contains all the classic disney songs, with vocals and just instumentals, which means ifyou don't know the song you can listen to someone else singing it before you have a go. It is also ideal for those breaks you have at college especially if you are a performing arts student like myself, it is also ideal for childrens partys as they actually know the songs!!!!

The best thing about this CD is the cover and I have to say, what a cover it is. The Sgt. Pepper spin off is very clever, however, the same can't be said for the music.

Though some of the songs are quite catchy, they aren't very tuneful and they aren't particularly funny. The high pitched tones of Lisa and Bart can become annoying and this isn't really one to listen to over and over again.

If you are a real Simpsons fan and can pick this up for under £2 go for it, otherwise, don't bother, you are better off with a poster of the cover instead.
