I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have listened to almost nothing else since. Odd, since it is by no means a flawless album. It just happens to have half a dozen tracks that are so infectious you find yourself humming them after only one or two hearings.
From the opening chords of the opening track, Home, you know you are in the company of two men of a certain age, comfortable in themselves, their lives and their talent. The song has the nerve to skate close to Simon and Garfunkel and still emerge as a distinctively Byrnian piece: 'Home, with the heighbours fighting/Home always so exciting/Home where my parents telling the truth.' It sets the tone for a determinedly upbeat, anthemic, collection: even Byrne's delight in dystopia ... Read More:
Carole King's 'Tapestry' album has to be a true 'classic' - and I think I'm right in saying that this album's never been out of print since it was originally released back in 1971!
Features the hit single from 1971: 'It's Too Late' (though from what I recall, the single version was not as long and of a slightly different arrangement) which will forever remind me of that year. Despite only being nine years old at the time (and unlike the kids of today - we did not have the kind of money that could buy records back then) I waited eight years before I was able to buy it by special order in my teens.
Also features the classic 'You've Got A Friend', and opens with the song 'I Feel The Earth Move' which was later to ... Read More:

I bought the special edition with the book, DVD, CDs with outtakes, auditions, missing pieces etc. But I also wanted to hear The War Of The Worlds in ultra high quality SACD.
Well, I feel let down. The quiet parts get cut, e.g. echoes pop in and out. It seems the recording engineer has cut all sound below a certain level from the mix tapes.
Going back to my original CD version, there is certainly more noise but there is also a hell of lot more depth to the sound. Playing them side by side, I hear a complete change in the mixes right the way through. I noticed that the vocals of the SACD are muted by comparison to the CD version.
This is not what SACD is about, this recording sounds like an early 80s digital recording, very ... Read More:

To say Nick Cave isn't the force he once was, is like saying Vlad the Impaler had minor anger management issues. Glories LONG gone, he's resorting to loose balladeering and conventional rock in a vain and desperate attempt to disguise the fact he's got nothing new to say and should've given up on this music thing a long time ago.
A new Nick Cave album is cause for despair, where once it was cause for celebration. Ok, you can't go on re-living past triumphs (ask Morrissey) but the guy must have SOME of that early threat and purpose kicking around somewhere. Where's the gusto and urgency that drove classics like 'Nick the Stripper' or 'Mr Clarinet' ?
He's become a rock dullard, a pale imitation, a caricature of all he once meant.
He's got a hopeless band together. ... Read More:

This is one of those classic albums that everyone has to own, and it is a very special record.
There are so many brilliant songs on this album; personal favourites are Out On The Weekend, Heart Of Gold and Old Man, but every track is just as brilliant as the previous and next.
The overall feel is just mellow and relaxed in terms of musical arrangement and vocal delivery, but the lyrics are intense in their depths of heartfelt emotion.
It sounds too simple to be this good, with very modest and unassuming instruments and a harmonica, which adds to the feel of the heart of the American countryside/prairies.
This album may be 36 years old but it still sounds so fresh and is still relevant now.

Queen are the most overrated band ever. This collection does contain the odd decent song but most songs here are trivial, soul-less, hollow and very very empty. The world's most pointless band!

So here it is - the best selling songs from the best selling band ever. The idea behind this compilation is that all the songs were Number One singles either in the UK or US. Sounds fairly simple, but in fact browsing the negative reviews on here shows many people complaining about this CD. Main criticisms are either that a Beatles greatest hits isn't necessary because people ought to buy the individual albums, or moans about certain tracks being omitted (Strawberry Fields Forever has been mentioned a lot - yes it might very well be the Beatles' best single but it didn't reach No. 1).
While it is true that the Beatles are a band best bought album-by-album, this is a great purchase for newbies or people with a casual interest in this legendary band. I own most of their albums, yet still play 1 ... Read More:

I can't think of any reason for why people gives this album three or even one star??? How can you critisize an album which is made up by previous hit singles. After my opinion a Single Collection is never bad, and especially not this.
Here are all the favorite Sugababes songs gathered on one cd. Could it get any better?! No, of course not!!
Every single track on this cd is splendid; the no 1 hits Push the Button, Hole in the Head, Round,Round, and Freak like Me gives you a good headach. And not too mension the hit ballads Too lost in you, Stronger, and Ugly. And the new and sexy single Easy gives the single collection the final touch.
But we must not forget the other top-charts songs that is to find here; Red Dress, In the Middle, Shape, Caught in a Moment, Overload,Run for Cover and Good ... Read More:
