Yep. Track 21 (The World is Not Enough) is performed by someone called Garbage and talk about living up to one's name... How did someone who has no voice wind up singing a Bond song? *shakes head in disbelief* Actually, after kd lang's sublime performance of Surrender, the rest of the CD is not worth listening to. Before that, however, it's a lovely trip down memory lane listening to good sings sung by singers who can, well, sing.....

To me this set of eleven songs seems like This Is The Life - a deserving worldwide hit, with six million YouTube views at the time of writing - and ten charming variations. Collectively, they just about pull their weight, and occasionally get close to genius (e.g. 'Poison Prince', in my humble opinion). I very much hope we will see one or two more big ideas in the second album.

This album is twice as good as his previous effort and I have therefore given it two stars. His voice is still annoying though. Maybe someone should suggest to him (nicely) he does an instrumental album. Yikes..

I know Mr Diamond lets do another album together, says Mr Rubin and like the last one strip it back and bore everyone to death.
Dull, dull and dull. What are you all talking about i was asleep quicker this time than last time. Even live he tries to liven them up a bit.
I have seen Neil Diamond live many times and own all his albums including this one JUST BECAUSE YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TOO. Please bring back the old Neil Diamond maybe not the Heartlight one but the Forever in Blue Jeans one would be nice.

On first listen, eveything is here that you expect from a Tracy Chapman album: an obvious sincerity of thought and expression, love and politics and reflections. What makes this album so convincingly good, is the music of the musicians involved. Rob Burger, Carla Kihlstedt and all the others do not deliver some usually well-done studio work, they comment and enrich the songs in very interesting ways. Producer Larry Klein is looking for a different setting for every single track without lacking coherence. it's a flow from start to end. Chapman's singing is more reluctant than before, a win-win-situation for dynamics and colors! So, every song, even the most simple love songs, own their little surprises. Tracy Chapman is a great story teller with a ... Read More:

It seems to me that the best songs/tracks on this CD are (perhaps inevitably) the three standards, ie, "Hallelujah", "Lilac Wine" and "Corpus Christie Carol."
With regard to the first of these, I can't say I agree with a previous reviewer that Jeff Buckley's rendering totally supersedes the original.
Leonard Cohen , with that memorable, bantering growl of his, makes Buckley sound somewhat like a tearful choirboy!
It was interesting to hear the Britten piece but it comes from a choral work and Buckley's solo, pop-folk treatment - though possibly OK as a concert encore item - does not do it justice. But, on the other hand, "Lilac Wine" comes over very effectively and is the best recording of this song that I have heard.

I received this great CD for Christmas 2007. I'd never really listened to any of their CDs before, and only ever heard and reconized "Don't Stop Me Now" a few times. But now I am crazy about them and their music: it's so cool and catchy! All the songs are brilliant! You should definetly buy this! It is FAB! And if you don't atleast like them now, you will after listening to this!

I love this album and think it's very fun, quirky and different from anythin' else out at the moment. An impressive debut for such a young girl. My advice is don't judge this album too quickly. It's filled with many different styles of music from pure fun pop to sugary sweet mid tempo R&B ballads, dance, electronic, this album has it all! Fresh, creative, quirky, upbeat, fun and original is how I would describe it. A really good try and definitely worth a listen!
Favourite tracks include:
No Air (duet with Chris Brown)
Tattoo
One Step At A Time
Freeze
Next To You
Just For The Record

Good work, Jordin! 5/5 ~ Claire Elise Archibald. xxx

Ryan Adams is a rarity - a genuine tortured artist. He writes with heartfelt angst and sometimes, cynically delivers parodies of his favourite styles. I saw him play at the Academy this week, and compared to any other performance of his that I've seen, he was damned near perfect. Off drugs, booze, etc. he and his band sounded great. Cardinology is his first real rock recording - live, it is ear splitting. On record, it is brief, nice on the ears. Live, it is passionate, driving and convincing. The ballads are the best, of course, but Go Easy, Fix it and even the parody of U2 - Magic are dynamic. I like Crossed Out Name, Natural Ghost and Cobwebs. No five stars, I'm afraid - it has few valleys and no real peaks, just the most consistent record out since his last one. ... Read More:

I've loved Leona since seeing her in the auditions in the Xfactor and truly think she has one of the best voices we've heard for a long time.
I was anxiously waiting to hear her new album, especially after the amazing track that was 'Bleeding Love', but unfortunately i think the album comes a little short.
Don't get me wrong, when the songs were right the album was awesome, and there are about 5 or 6 brilliant songs on here including Bleeding Love, Better in Time and Homeless. I just hope that in her next album, every track is amazing, because in this album there are too many naff songs. Lets hope that her AMAZING cover of Snow Patrol's Run is a sign of things to come.
