It strikes me how nobody is talking about how awful this record sounds. It is loud, compressed... It seems to have been mixed directly into an mp3 player; the saddest thing of all is that it has some of the better songs Weller has ever written... Someone has to do something with the awful sounding records released today, because nobody seems to notice.

I've been a fan of The Cure for a long, long time and sadly don't find anything in this album to rescue them from their last appalling effort. While this one may start more promisingly than the last, it soon descends into a mess of overbearing guitar, plodding drums and a complete lack of originality - something I never thought I would say about The Cure. It seems that the band is trying to rediscover the soundscapes of the brilliant Wish album - but saldy I doubt these tracks would even have made it onto b-sides during that period of the band's journey.

I'm a longtime fan of Eva Cassidy's wonderful voice and style. I think I have all her albums and those albums provide a lot of the background music for my life. Her all-too-soon death took a marvelous talent from this world.
That said, though, I found this album a bit disappointing. I think that with every now-deceased beloved artist, there exists a file somewhere of recorded songs that were considered for earlier albums and put aside because they weren't quite good enough. Then, when the artist dies, there's a scramble to unearth these items and create an album from them. It doesn't always work: those songs were filed away for good reason.
And while I find this album enjoyable, that seems to be the case here. I don't find ... Read More:

It is very difficult to approach this album with anything close to objectivity. I have been a big Queen fan for close to twenty years now and, in my opinion, Queen without Freddie just wasn't an option and, after Brian, Roger & John dismissed rumour after rumour of replacing him with a plethora of different front men, I thought that Queen had all but been laid to rest. Then, of course, I heard that they were touring with Paul Rodgers on vocals and, to be honest, I was slightly nonplussed and had no interest in going to see them live. However, when news came of a new studio album with brand new songs - well, now I was interested. I still object to the use of the Queen name - without Freddie and John, it is tantamount to Paul & Ringo getting together with Elvis ... Read More:

I heard Andrew Johnstone sing on Good Morning Sunday, which is on BBC Radio 2 in the UK, I was so impressed with the singing, I literally logged straight onto the internet and found his CD "One Voice" and immediately purchased it there and then.
I eagerly awaited its arrival and was totally over awed, Andrew's voice is simply outstanding, clear and a sheer joy to listen to, every song on the CD is a pleasure, with such a range of talent coming through.
It is a long time since I heard anybody sing with this high level of ability, clarity and produce such sheer enjoyment.
I would recommend everybody to listen to one track, you will find that you simply listen all the way through the cd..............and feel as though you want to purchase ... Read More:

This CD is excellent! I think it is the best Snow Patrol so far, and I really like Snow Patrol. Every song is a winner! I am absolutely addicted to this CD--I have to listen to it everyday.

I am biased of course because I love James Taylor's voice...! but this is sublime for a christmas feel anytime of the year...even if,like me, you are not vaguely religious, all the songs just feel 'right'!

I first heard the song Case of You in the film Practical Magic and thought how wonderful it was. I bought the film soundtrack (the whole music selection for the film was pretty good) and then i bought the album Blue to see what the rest of Jonis work was like.
I fell in love with the album so completely, that now i've moved to MP3 and sold 99% of my CD's i can't bear to part with this one. One of the others is Court & Spark.
The music is so simple, the strings, drums, and her voice- the most wonderful voice i have ever heard, conveying such emotion that the music and words combined make the whole album an amazing rollercoaster of feelings and thoughts.
I'd recommend to anyone who has ever felt any kind of emotion.

For someone who liked Hot Fuss, but didn't go crazy for it I find it bewildering that so many people think it was superior to Sam's Town. I have to sorry to those people but you are wrong Sam's Town is a fantastic album and clearly superior to HF in every aspect. Hot Fuss was a good first effort and Sam's Town is the coming of age of a band I think are just about the best around. Love it!
