First things first. Sgt Pepper is not a concept or themed album. 3 of the 13 songs are vaguely based on the theme of the Beatles "playing" at being an old time band (including a reprise of the title song) and some of the music is continuous between songs. The rest of the songs are unrelated so why is the album so often described as groundbreaking? Listen to it and you will find out. The band and producer George Martin produced a remarkable album that at times is unashamedly experimental.

It is probably best summed up in "A Day in the Life", where they really throw the kitchen sink at it. In the middle and at the end of the song an orchestra builds a wall of sound for what seems like forever, until a crescendo is reached. It sounds remarkable ... Read More:

I first heard Gabriella Cilmi when i saw her supporting the Sugababes live and afterwards i went straight out and bought the album and it was excellent. I also saw her on her own tour and she was amazing again. She's a great new talent and deserves to become very very successful especially when you see some of these over-rated singers like Amy (attention seeker) Winehouse and Leona "Yes i can sing but my songs are so dull" Lewis doing well. I bought this special edition even though i already had the original version for the new songs including her cover of Cry Me A River which is better than the original. It's a pity Save The Lies didn't do as well as Sweet About Me when released as a single as i thought it was a classic but this album is loaded with great songs ... Read More:

This CD/DVD is amazing !
like many others - I was at this gig. But i went to BOTH dates that weekend (16th and 17th) I had a seat for the saturday and i got RIGHT TO THE FRONT on the 17th (and was delighted to find out they were filming the DVD for that night!) I just WISH WISH WISH...Muse played 'microcuts' on the sunday instead of the saturday as its their BEST SONG BY FAR ! i went mental when they played it on the saturday. (as i had a bet with my mate who is the biggest muse fan ever - that they would play it) i won...and he had to eat his trainer!

Just how many more albums can Radiohead make of such quality? Other bands become very samey, or try to change and fail. Somehow Radiohead manage to change whilst staying the same and keep producing top quality albums. This album just gets better and better with each listen, and in my view a Radiohead classic already.

Broken Boy Soldier was good but this is in a different league.It progresses beautifully from the debut. Live , the songs on this are quite wondrous and if you ever see them live the idea that it's just Jack White with a backing band is blown out of the water. One of the best bands around.

And if there weren't enough reasons to adore JW , I doubt very much if I'd have discovered Brendan Benson, The Greenhornes and Blanche had it not been for The Raconteurs .

i cant believe i hear this album now! having recently bought the brilliant Leaders Of The Free World I wanted to discover Elbow. Then I listened to Cast Of Thousands next which i included in my top 10 album list. but then I listened to this album and I was totally knocked off my feet! I just love it. this is music! reading other reviews I was deeply dissapointed they were compared to other bands. some of the reviews which compare elbow to say coldplay would have put off buying this record. If u like music then get all the albums by Elbow. Another band I thought I should recommend is I Am Kloot.

this album is fab hallialuah made me buy it but the whole album is fab buy it the story about hallialuah on radio2 thats how i got to hear of him he deserves much more regonition why hasant he? bob dylan does and i think leonard cohen is much better and his voice is better too!! alson get songs of leonard cohen from the 60s and songs of love and hate!! buy them you wont regret it ive also just recieved richard hawleys ladys bridge album fabalous too!!

Back ground music this is not! This album is full of extraordinary sounds and feelings that are powerful and strange. It is impossible to listen to this as background music, but if you enjoy music for the range of emotions and physical experiences it evokes you will love this album. Yes, there is the trademark Albarn waltz underlying "I love Buddha", and the more westernised tracks tend to be underpinned by thumping Gorillaz baselines, but this album is as strange and different as it should be. There is no English, but Mandarin, many of the instruments are strange, and the melodies are rooted in Chinese folk traditions. You will either find this album wierd and inaccessible, or utterly exhilerating. Deserves to be listened to properly and loudly!!
