I was going to mention Clapton's christening of the Les Paul, Marshall setup, but others have beaten me to it. I liken it's impact to what happened to harp playing when Little Walter and other's deciding to blow through the PA or an early guitar amp. They REDEFINED the sound of the instrument.
So all I'll add is the rhetorical question...can you imagine being a teenage Brit, having been reared on the sounds of the Beatles, Jerry and the Pacemakers, or even the Dave Clark Five, wandering into a London club because someone had recommended the Bluesbreakers, and hearing THIS STUFF? Probably as epiphanic as being a white guy in mid 50's Chicago and having the nerve to wander into the Dew Drop Inn and hearing Muddy, Wolf, or later, Otis ... Read More:

I don't need to tell any of you how great an artist Phil Collins is. A true 80s legend and an awesome live performer. He's produced many great songs and this collection features a lot of his best work. Many fans will probably argue that some of their favourites are not on here, but this album does boast his most liked and most popular tracks. Brilliant from start to finish, a good combination of uplifting 80s music and powerful ballads.

I must admit, I'm not exactly a fan or Tom Jones, but my sister already has this album and when I listened to it I just had to buy it. The man has an awesome voice and every track on this album is totally different. A good one to add to your collection!

This album shows the progression Paul Weller has made as a purely solo artist from 1992 to 1998. The tracks on it are stunning and include "Changing Man" "Out of the Sinking" "Broken Stones" "You do something to me " and many more it does not however include any of the stunning tracks which were not released as singles and therefore the collection is rather incomplete.
I would advise anyone buying this to treat it as an introduction to Paul Weller's solo work and then go on and buy his back catalogue as I am sure you will find songs on the albums which are better than some of the tracks included. I say this as a die hard Weller fan that first saw the Jam in the 1970's and still enjoys his work today.

Robbie was the star of Take That and this album shows why. It is a combination of Frank Sinatra and Elvis.
And the likeness is not restricted to singing. Sinatra and Presley also made movies as well as great music and now Robbie is following in their footsteps.
I cant wait to see him as East End gangster Harry Harris in the movie version of the Garry Jackson novel Till Death Us Do Part.

The fact that it is over20 years old is testament to the fact this is still selling strong.
This is one of my favourite albums of all time, and permenantly stays in the car for periodic stress relief and pleasure time.
The album encompasses a variety of music styles and includes the legendary 'You can call me Al'. This has to be one of the all time great tracks. Not only that, this album was responsible for the popularity of Lady Blacksmith Mambazo due to their involvement in the album and tracks such as 'Homeless'.
For me this is a must have album, for the simple fact it has tap along tracks along with tracks that calm your soul.

This great two disc album from the Pet Shop Boys contains thirty five of the duos greatest songs. All of the Pet Shop Boys biggest hits, such as `Go West' and `West End Girls' are included as well as some that I hadn't heard before buying this album but they are all very enjoyable. My favourite song from the album though is the relatively resent `Flamboyant' and in all honesty it was this song that encouraged me to get the album in the first place. The one slight criticism of this album is that all of the truly great songs from the Pet Shop Boys could have easily fitted onto one CD rather but this is only a slight annoyance and even the songs presented here that are less that stunning are still a cut above much of the music released today. This album is great and would be of ... Read More:

In the beginning the way into Dylan was via Peter Paul & Mary, the Turtles, the Byrds and Johnny Cash.
And commercially electric Dylan was just right.
This CD is just a sampler and introduction to the Art of Dylan. If you want more you get the original albums on CD.All but one have been on catalog since CDs began.
My favorite Dylan song is Can you please crawl out your window.
Thus this double CD would only be of interest if there was a booklet with it and its by no means the only one of its kind as the most recent-titled DYLAN and in 3 different editions -comes with a picture book.
Today's Dylan collector needs plenty of money and plenty of room

In the same way that one becomes colder the further away from the sun travel, the quality of MJs CDs/LPs diminished the further away he departed from his best CD Off the Wall. As this is the CD after the great 1979 release, he still has something in his favor. By & large he was still blessed to be working with Quincy Jones & the under valued Rod Templeton. At this time he wasn't chasing the title of King of Pop, or following the latest trends. He was also using live instruments ( the lack of which, I feel, diluted his future CDs) Add to this base, the writing skills of Toto, the guitar skills of Eddie Van Halen, the vocal 'rap' of Vincent Price, and you have all the ingredients of a major, major hit.
This was the first LP (as it was then) that I ever purchased, and I still have it to this ... Read More:
